Product Description

Review

"Day's fifth Crossfire novel brings the story of Gideon and Eva to a satisfying conclusion. Narrating their stories in alternating chapters, Eva and Gideon relate their explosive physical attraction, their appreciation of how they help each other heal old emotional wounds, and their ever-increasing mutual trust. Glamorous people, swanky settings, steamy sex, and passionate married love make this a heartwarming, gratifying conclusion to the series." - Publishers Weekly

"Gideon and Eva’s complicated relationship plays out with hurt, passion, obsession and most importantly, love. Day’s writing is flawless and carries readers on the journey of these two broken characters toward each other and the all-consuming emotions that leap out of the book. A wonderful story written by a master storyteller!" - RT Book Reviews

What can I say? Loved every word...so nice to visit with Gideon again. There is a reason he is one of the all-time best alpha male characters ever!!! I was surprised at one of the events in the story (don't want to give anything away). I didn't see that coming at all. I feel like there could still be more to this story for some reason. After book 3 I thought 4 books would be too much, but now I feel like I need something a bit more? Something didn't feel quite finished or maybe I just can't let go of Gideon just yet? I also see spinoffs from this!

I waited so long for this last and final chapter but i must say it was slightly disappointing. So much left unfinished. It didn't feel like the others it was less intense and the chapters were points to be made as the next chapter started you on a new one. i think the epilogue could have satisfied me if it had taken place farther in the future to tie up the loose ends but my imagination will have to do that but than again i could have just imagined this book as well.

Without giving away any spoilers, I have to say I was not impressed with the ending of the story.

There were quite a few issues not resolved for the reader.

I wish the epilogue was further in time like five years later so all loose ends could be tied up.

I have loved the 4 books prior to this one but I was disappointed in this final instalment.

I liked most of this book, but i was left disappointed in the end.It did not answer alot of questions like what happened with Trey/Carey/Tatiana did she have the baby? Was the baby proven to be Careys?Did Trey and Carey work things out?Did Gideon work things out with his mother? It doesn't feel finished to me.I wish i would have known all this before i paid that ridiculous amount of money for this book.

Actually loved this last installment of the Crossfire series. I think it fleshed out the characters more and was a fitting end to the series. Very easy to read, I finished the book in about a day and a half. Great series all round with good characters.

The story took a long time to wind down. I was pleased that the focus wasn't on the sex for the first half of the book, but once Eva and Gideon finally did have sex, it didn't stop. The ending introduced way too many new things. Deus ex machina. Convoluted and unnecessary. They didn't add to the existing story and only served to detract.

SPOILER WARNING: This review contains SPOILERS. (This is what you came for...) But if you want a non-spoilery review - 2 stars. Some things I liked; a lot I didn't.

CONTENT WARNING: Flashbacks/details of rape and sexual abuse (including that of children), demonising of mental healthcare professionals, ableism/mentalism, fat-phobia.

"Not what you expect. Everything you want." So says the novel's ads, but it turns out I'm not the "you" in question. It is what I expected, and not what I wanted. (I hoped Eva and Gideon would break up and never get back together.)

You can so tell the author wrote this book with a TV adaptation in mind. Most characters have their own subplots, but we don't see them through to conclusion, so they come across as filler. Not really a surprise that this is the longest novel the author's written - it didn't need to be.

So much repetition about how much Eva and Gideon love each other, how attractive they find each other. There's a lot of emphasis on Eva's chest and posterior. Not just from Gideon's POV but also Eva's. Ireland speaks up, too. Though Eva's "curvy", we are constantly reminded. There's fat-phobia here, when at first Eva doesn't want to be photographed in a bikini after "pigging out" at lunch. (Her words, not mine.) At first I wondered if all the prose about Eva's body was foreshadowing a maybe-pregnancy (like how I thought all the period talk in a previous episode would lead to; I was wrong), but of course not. Gideon's not willing to share Eva with anyone, not even a child. Same reason he doesn't want Eva to hang out with her family and friends.

And for a supposedly "erotic" novel, the shagging is actually...really boring.
