Product Description

When a scared, beautiful stranger shows up at Axel's door, he doesn't know what to think. And then he hears her voice. The stranger is no stranger. She's his Angel, the girl who stole his heart during countless hours gaming together online. The girl who disappeared nearly a year ago, breaking his heart in the process.

But Tess is far from an angel. On the run from a past that's determined to destroy her, she's left with only one place to turn. The problem is, in order for Axel to save her, she'll have to find it within herself to trust him not just with her life, but with her heart.

Thank you to NetGalley for letting me read this novel in exchange for an honest review.

It's been a while since I read this book, and I think what happened was I wrote this big long review on Goodreads and it somehow got erased! That's the first time that's ever happened to me! So I've learned my lesson, I will write my reviews on my blog first, then copy/paste it to Goodreads.

So back to the book. There were a lot of things I enjoyed about this book, including the set-up. I've never read a book where the characters have met and fallen in love/lust online. Which is odd, because it seems like this is becoming more of the norm these days. Come to think of it, three of my cousins have married or been engaged to people they've met online, so it's not as far fetched as you might originally think.

Both characters were enjoyable enough, although I think Arion may have been a bit too hot. I mean, he's a gaming geek. It would have been more believable if he was skinny and pale, although the author does a good job of explaining his amazing body by describing his eating habits and intense workout schedule. The chemistry between Angel and Arion was obvious right off the bat, but man was Arion possessive! No wonder Angel was freaked out, especially after being in an abusive relationship with the man she's running away from.

There were a couple of things that rubbed me the wrong way. There is a part in the book where Angel gets into trouble, basically attacked by a stranger. I won't go into details, but Arion is there to save the day, white knight-style. Anyway, it just struck me as a bit cheesy, and seemed to infer that Angel is so desirable that she can't go anywhere, even a pub, without being in danger.

HASH(0x9d0e3828) out of 5 stars Best girl-finally-meets-boy scene in a long long time Sept. 6 2013
By CSP Austin - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
As a girl who married a gamer geek myself, I have to tell you, the opening scene of No One's Angel is pitch perfect. "Angel," going by her online handle, finds "Arion" in her darkest hour, desperate, broke, and needing an escape. But this author isn't a one-scene wonder. This story has a breathlessness about it that will keep you turning pages.

The book hits on some of the themes we've come to expect in NA, dark past, secrets, abuse, damage, but Walker's writing skill takes it above the average and will really resonate with readers who want some depth to their romance.

So, I dare you to click on the cover and read the opening chapter. You're going to have to keep reading, and I think you'll see exactly what I'm talking about.

The Plot. I thought that this book was really great and I really loved the plot. I haven't read a lot of books that are similar and I love that it's an unique idea. I really loved the idea of two gamers that end up sharing everything an falling in love. I really appreciated the emotions that the author was able to incorporate in this book and felt that they were very believable. I also liked the secrecy and the mystery involved around Angel. The secrecy kept me guessing and interested and I loved how the author only gave a little information at a time.

Tess (Angel). I really loved how Tess was portrayed throughout the book. She seemed very fragile and innocent yet at times this fiery temper would make it's way to the surface. I loved how she wasn't afraid to speak her mind yet wasn't always sure of herself. I felt that unlike many other heroines, Tess really valued her relationship with axel but wanted to be sure that her feelings are real. She didn't allow herself to get caught up in Axel and I loved how she did the right thing for not only her, but Axel too.

Axel (Arion). Axel was a character that I really appreciated throughout the book because of his devotion to Tess. He never put himself above her or messed up with a stupid choice. I loved that he didn't get huffy when Tess wanted to figure out her feelings and actually supported her. I loved how he wasn't too over-bearing but very protective.

Overall. I really enjoyed this book and I want to either see more in this series or more books like it. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who loves a suspenseful romance.

HASH(0x9a515d5c) out of 5 stars Amazing - Kelly Walker really has range!!! Sept. 8 2013

Every time Kelly Walker opens up Scrivner (Writing program) on her computer I get a tingle on the back of my neck! I love her work ( I love her too and swear I will get to meet her one day!). I completely loved the Souls of the Stones series. But now she has completely outdone herself with No One's Angel! While you can still detect the liquid writing style that is distinctly "Kelly" the subject, the story, the characters are a complete departure from anything I've read from Kelly before - and I LOVED it.

No One's Angel is New Adult Contemporary that is AWESOME!!! The characters were loveable or hateable as appropriate and well drawn. The romance was so sweet and felt so real in many ways. I enjoyed Kelly's approach in discussing domestic violence, although it isn't heavy handed and doesn't make the book feel like a PSA it's there and it's discussed in a productive way.

Kelly really did her research on this one. Little known fact; back when Momma had spare time I used to be a gamer. Warcraft player primarily, I had a totally badass dwarf fire mage, an OP blood elf destruction Lock and a few others that I PVP'd with from time to time and all the gamer-speak was dead on right down to the LeroyJenks (because there's one on every server).

All in all this book kept me up late reading and neglecting the chores, it is really good and I recommend it to anyone interested in New Adult!
What does Momma Think?

Momma gives No One's Angel by Kelly Walker 4 cookies & a glass of milk!

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

"In game, I was flawless and in control. In life, I'm lost."

Tess is a young woman on the run from a bad situation. She leaves home with little more than a backpack and a few dollars. She runs 2000 miles to Axel, a man she became close to when they met playing an online video game, where Tess goes by her gamer name Angel and Axel is Arion. He's not expecting her and she has no idea what she'll find...

What Angel doesn't realize is how badly she hurt Arion when she disappeared from their online relationship a year ago. Now that she's shown up on his doorstep, he'll do anything to have her stay. He doesn't care about her past, he just wants her future. Unfortunately, Angel is skittish and damaged. She doesn't think staying is a good idea. Arion doesn't see it that way at all. He's determined to hold on to his Angel.

"I don't know what happened to her, but right now I know without a doubt she isn't broken, maybe just a little bent. Somehow, I'll fix this."

I normally don't read a lot of YA/NA books but overall I did enjoy this read. I felt like the characters could have been a little more dimensional and some of story wasn't as developed as it could have been. That being said, Arion is definitely a young alpha in the making and is pretty swoon worthy. The story is very readable and I think someone who enjoys YA/NA will definitely enjoy this book.

"You'll always be my Angel. If I have to, I'll build you new wings."

Yep, swoon worthy.

Thanks to NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

HASH(0x9a6a0e94) out of 5 stars No One's Angel Sept. 6 2013

No One's Angel is the heartbreaking story of a girl who loses herself, and runs to the only person who might be able to save her. Tess is running for her life, from the same person who took it all away from her. When she shows up on Axel's door, or Arion and she knows him she doesn't know what to expect.

Axel is broken after Angel suddenly disappears much like how his mother disappeared years earlier, without a word. When Angel shows up on his doorstep he knows this is his second chance at forever with her. But first he must help her rebuild herself into the person she once was, and if not stronger this time around.

What I loved about this book is that it's a refreshingly new storyline. Some elements might be the same of what readers have read before, but overall I enjoyed immensely. Axel/Arion wants nothing more than to fix the broken girl he fell in love with over a computer game. While Tess/Angel doesn't want someone else to fix her, she wants to do it herself.
