Product Description

For years, one thing kept troubled young Christine Bexley on the right side of a life beyond salvation—the promise of a unique apprenticeship, as soon as she came of age, under childhood crush and world-renowned orchidologist, Richard Mitchell.

After three years of flirtation and shameless attempts to seduce her mentor, Christine now stands at the eve of her twenty-first birthday, a gifted orchidologist in her own right. But is she truly ready for the fabled Orchidarion? An exceptionally cruel test of skill and concentration, it can only be administered by those who have already mastered it. Success would place her among the absolute best in the world. But can Christine overcome this final obstacle to complete her ascendance, or has Richard’s opportunity just blossomed for a long and hard payback?

5.0 out of 5 stars The allure of transformations April 10 2016

I've never read such an evocative, carnal description of an orchid. Not satisfied with mere double entendre, Mr. Lexx, as so much of his work does, adds additional layers to his descriptions. The orchid, not solely as a tempting, beautiful flower, or as the uncanny resemblance of the sexual anatomy of a women, but more, as a description of woman herself, her psyche, her passions and secret desires, and ultimately, her flowering.

The thought occurred that perhaps I'm reading more into his words than his intentions. To that end, I started reading this with a lovely glass of Cabernet Sauvignon, beautifully crimson, of course, to hopefully quell any overactive brain cells and simply enjoy the written words. But his work is so nuanced, so layered, that it's impossible to separate his actual words with the subtext woven through it. That is what makes his books so extraordinary, I believe. Much like Christine sees below Mitchell's quiet, public facade to his inner demons and needs, JD's hidden meanings bubble and boil close to the surface, for anyone daring or compelled to look.

Sensuality seems to come so naturally. His characters are very tactile, but also compelled to indulge in all of their senses. And why not avail ourselves of the banquet that taste, touch, smell, visual and vocal can add to our quest for pleasure? If there is one underlying theme in his Crimson Confession series, it's that we are sexually stymied by puritanical notions of acceptable behavior, but why do we allow it? His characters learn that there is freedom to be found in those willing to risk it. Perhaps that is the lesson he hopes we all learn, eventually.
5.0 out of 5 stars A sensory delight! April 26 2016

"The orchid beckons, she calls a siren's song in light and color to bring even the proudest to their knees."

This closes the first paragraph in the Order of the Orchidarion... and that same hypnotic lyrical prose carries through to the final words. Rather than summarize the story, I will jump right in to a few things I love about this novella:

Throughout this and every Lexx writing, he indulges your mind with sensory images that you won't want to let go of and at the end, will eventually crave. In this Crimson Confession, for me it was a craving to touch the wax-like petals of an orchid, to visually devour their beauty, inhale the faint scent of cinnamon and rose petals, and hear the sternness derived from passion in that one word..."Identify!"

Next, I love that JD can use such precise wording in the most effectual way to ensure the reader has all the pre-story and character build-up needed but without dwelling on the past. "In a long string of unsustainable misfortune, the day that finally broke Mitchell's spirit had surely been the cruelest of them all-"

He also writes this novella remarkable well from a female POV: "...but I would take those glances home and hold them close for days, creating my own realities around every passing flirtation without ever really knowing why." Truly a female obsessive trait that most men would laugh at, certainly wouldn't articulate so passionately.

And finally one of my very favorites, his excellence at double-entendres: "You observe only. If any flowers need be manipulated tonight, I will be the one to do so."

So basically one might say that I absolutely love this book, that it is a sensual delight and intensely seductive. And I am very positive in saying that JD Lexx's writing can "bring even the proudest to their knees!"

5.0 out of 5 stars I read and write enough to know good writing when I see it and I see it ... July 29 2015

This is my second experience with a Lexx Crimson Confession. I read and write enough to know good writing when I see it and I see it here. The sex is tantizling and well told. I loved the descriptions of the orchids. You open this erotica novel looking for some fun and close it with all this wonderful knowledge and gorgeous word pictures of orchids. I also love Lexx's epilogue. He tries to take the taboo out for sex by writing a thoughtful smart epilogue encouraging his readers to be open with their sexuality. And why not? From his writing I can tell that he has enough knowledge on the subject to be able to give a little advice!
5.0 out of 5 stars A must read!!!! Dec 31 2015

JD Lexx has done a phenomenal job with this book. It is filled with metaphors. I enjoyed this book beyond anything I expected in this genre. I personally love Orchids they are so delicate and sensual. They take great care under a firm but gentle hand. The writing in this book is very poetic it sings a song that will be stuck forever in your heart. If you look deeper into this there is so much more beyond intimacy and flowers. This book breaks through boundaries that people set for themselves but what if we didn't? What if we just let go to enjoy every touch, smell, and tasted it all for what it really is. We're only as happy as we let ourselves be, remember that the next time you think your unhappy. I recommend opening this book you might find that there could be more to you own happiness than meets the eye.
5.0 out of 5 stars He does not disappoint. “Glistening and vulnerable she waits June 5 2016

There is an allure in the taboo, a curiosity to see something other than our ‘common’—a desire to investigate secret gardens behind locked gates. J.D.Lexx invites the inquisitive into a world where sensuality is cosseted and coaxed, coddled and carefully manipulated into full bloom while you hover in the humid hothouse air, drawing hushed breath after hushed breath in anticipation. He does not disappoint.

“Glistening and vulnerable she waits, poised to open fully to the right touch, and yet delicate enough to wilt irreparable beneath the clumsy weight of the wrong hand.”

We are in very good hands. Five Stars for J.D.Lexx and The Orchidarion, Crimson Confession 3.
