Product description

From the Inside Flap

When approached from the Lean perspective, H. L. Gantt’s Organizing for Work provides a window into the American origins of the 2nd Pillar of Lean – Respect For People. Gantt, the creator of Gantt charts, galvanized the human aspect of efficiency with razor sharp clarity. Production improvements go astray because, we have “ignored the human factor and failed to take advantage of the ability and desire of the ordinary man to learn and improve his position.” Enna has revisited this classic text and designed it around the modern Lean manager. With our easy to read, exclusive reproductions of the original Gantt charts, you will see that project management is only a small part of the practicality of these charts. Gantt charts provide vital information for managing employees, machines, production and improvement initiatives. Organizing for Work is a classic management guide that has withstood the tests of time and technology.

About the Author

About the Author Henry Laurence Gantt, 1861-23 November 1919, was a mechanical engineer and management consultant. He is most famous for his development of the GANTT chart. These Gantt charts were employed on major infrastructure projects including the Hoover Dam and Interstate highway system and are still an important tool in project management.Biography Gantt was born in Calvert County, Maryland, USA. He graduated from Mcdonough School in 1878 and Johns Hopkins College worked as a teacher and draughtsman before becoming a mechanical engineer. In 1887 he joined Frederick Taylor at Bethlehem Steel and worked with him there until 1893. In addition to the GANTT chart, he also designed the ’task and bonus’ system of wage payment and developed methods of measuring worker efficiency and productivity. --From the Publisher
