Directions

Because your cat or kitten is unique and ORIJEN™ pet foods are packed with animal protein, feeding requirements will vary with environment, age and activity. That's why we suggest using the feeding guide as a starting point, and monitoring your cat or kitten's weight and adjusting amounts as needed. We also recommend feeding your cat twice daily and always keeping fresh, clean water available. When switching diets, it's important to transition your cat or kitten as it takes time for their digestive system to adapt to the richer nutrient levels in ORIJEN™. Over a 10-14 day period, gradually mix in ORIJEN™, increasing the amount each day so that by day 14 you are feeding 100% ORIJEN. See your veterinarian regularly. To help maintain freshness, we recommend sealing the bag tightly and storing it in a cool, dry location.

    There is nothing to dislike. My cats are very healthy on this. They have lovely coats, have grown well and have happy,playful but passive Maine Coon personalities. One of cats is fastidious and always grooming herself yet no hairballs. They never seem to tire of eating this. No bowel problems except when they went mouse hunting in the basement and needed deworming. I live in Canada and so have not experienced the frustrations the Americans report. I did a lot of reading before I chose this brand for my cats. No cornmeal or any of those other questionable ingredients in food they sell at the vet clinics.

    Way too overpriced here. I didn’t know that this is readily available in any pet stores for under $70 bucks. I paired total if 97$ including shipping for this bag. Food is known to be good nutrition, but my cat has really sensitive stomach and Origen is known to give cats like these loose stool. My cat has been having diarrhea... now I wasted $97 on this :(. But this food is good for cats with stronger stomach. Just don’t buy it overpriced.

    The quality of the cat food that I purchase became of great importance to me after I lost my first cat to a disease that my vet said was triggered by, and worsened by, the cat food I was feeding him (Fancy Feast). So I begin doing research on what cats really need in their diet and the backgrounds and production of various cat foods on the market. Of everything I found, this brand “Orijen” always seemed to make the top five list of healthiest and most nutritious cat foods made with the highest quality ingredients as well as the best sourcing and production practices.
    Admittedly, there was another brand that was above ‘Orijen’ in these categories that I wanted to give my cats...but cats are picky, and they did not care for that brand too much...so I went to my second choice, which was ‘Orijen’.
    Ever since trying Orijen’s ‘Cat & Kitten’, we have never found another “go-to” food for the cats.

    They truly love this stuff. And as you can see in the video, I once got a bag home and (even though they had eaten that morning) they were more than happy to tear the bag open before I could even get to it. (usually I keep the cat food stored away in a cupboard).

    If you’re looking for a fragrant, dry food to attract your cats’ attention, this is definitely a go-to. Even with my human nose, as soon as I open the bag I can smell a powerful scent of cat food; it’s not an unpleasant smell, but it is certainly strong enough that a cat will know that the food is there.

    As my cats’ responsible human, I am happy with this food because it is responsibly sourced with cat’s health and humane practices in mind. More specifically, it is made of 85% animal ingredients including free-run chicken/turkey, wild-caught herring/flounder/sardines, and cage-free eggs; and 2/3 of their animal ingredients are “fresh or raw”. I am also encouraged by the fact that the first 16 ingredients listed on the bag are all whole animal sources; no fillers, supplements, fruits, veggies, or mysterious compounds.
    Additionally, taurine, which you must be wary of in cat food since it can be found in high quantities (particularly in low quality, high protein) cat food and cause health disorders in your pet, is found as a respectably small percentage of this food.

    I only wish that Orijen made wet cat food, since making sure cats get enough water is a very important thing. I did try to put some water on their dry food, but they didn’t like that.
    My answer to that was to buy a motion sensitive water dispenser, and buy them canned cat food on occasion from another respectable brand.

    With regard to price, yes it is rather expensive for a cat food. And getting used to it did take some time. However, after being told that I lost my first cat because of the low quality of the cat food I was feeding him (and I had no idea!), the peace of mind I get now from knowing that I am feeding my cats a properly nutritious food is priceless.

    Overall I am very happy with the brand and this flavor, and as you can see in the video and the picture of the damage done to the bag before I could open it and the cats are also very happy with it.

    Been feeding them Orijen since 2 years and rhey love it. They also like the Guardian 8 variant. It's just a bit pricier than their previous royal canin but since this has better quality ingredients from real protien sources and no unnecessary carbs. Check the ingredients list. First 2 or 3 listed always comprise the majority of what the kibble is made of.
