I feed my 10 month bull terrier this food after the vet recommended he be on Royal Canine, Hypoallergenic HP, I decided to give Orijen a try. At the vet i was spending $100 on a 7 kg bag, this food is way better, has better ratings, is better quality and you get way more for your money. My dog is happy and healthy, he's at the perfect weight and has a beautiful coat :)

HASH(0xa75b496c) out of 5 stars AMAZING Results! May 1 2012
By Kim C - Published on
This is hands down the best dog food out there. I adopted an adult Samoyed that had been tied to a tree for the summer, which resulted in him having heartworm, a damaged coat, flaky skin, and he was extremely underweight. After his heartworm treatment, he came home with me and I started him on Orijen (originally started him on the fish flavor because it was a little easier on his weakened immune system). Literally within DAYS his coat began to shine, he started to gain muscle mass, and his energy level went up SIGNIFICANTLY. After I went through the first bag of the fish flavor I switched to the Regional Red (it smells much better than the fish!) It's been almost 4 months since he came home with me and people stop me on the street to tell me how "healthy" he looks.

Because the quality of the food, you won't have to feed your dog as much (my now 55 pound samoyed gets about 1-1.5 cups twice a day depending on if I throw some fresh veggies in his bowl) so it doesn't end up costing as much in the long run. Since there are no fillers, they don't need to eat as much of the food to get the proper nutrition. My dog will gobble it up at first and then sometimes stop when he's almost done eating. My friend's Miniature Pincher does the same thing - it seems to actually make them FULL.

I honestly don't have one bad thing to say about this product - definitely at least try it if you're considering it. It's well worth the money!

HASH(0xa75b4d74) out of 5 stars My Dog Loves Regional Red July 12 2012

After Solid Gold changed their formula and compromised the product, I switched my dog to Orijen. This is the best food on the market right now in my oppinion. My dog loves it. Champion foods doesn't outsource their product which gives me peace of mind that my dog is actually eating what the label says is in the bag. The food is expensive, but the food is worth the cost. I suggest putting your dog on the Orijen rotational diet. Buy Orijen.

HASH(0xa78a0d08) out of 5 stars Amazing Results! My Frenchie loves it! Nov. 24 2012

I have a French Bulldog who has had significant GI and skin issues. The amount I have spent on him, while well worth it, is the amount of a college education (wish I was kidding). After every allergy test and food regimen I discovered this product. Origen Red is a game changer. We haven't been to the vet since we started this food and my pup actually loves it. No more paw licking, no more diarrhea , it has been truly life changing. I wish I had known about this earlier, it would have saved a lot of heartache watching my pup dealing with GI issues. Try it!

HASH(0xa75b4dec) out of 5 stars Warning, once your dog tries this it won't like much else. April 14 2013

When I first took my dog(1.5yrs old) home from the shelter she was 39lbs and a bit underweight with ribs clearly showing. We put her on Orijen and within two months her weight was up to 60lbs at a perfect weight for her. No more ribs showing and she filled out nicely and is staying steady at this weight with 2 cups per day. Well I ran out a few months ago and decided to try something cheaper, Nutro also a grain free formula. Her thoughts on that were no thanks dad! Her morning meal would stay in her bowl all day and pretty much stay half full all the time and the wife would tell me she didn't feed her breakfast because she still had food from the night prior.

I began to worry about this because she gets 2-3 hours of exercise everyday and needs the energy. After talking with someone at the dog park I discovered some small store sells this locally so I decided to get some more. The store owner gave me four samples of another high quality dog food to try as well. I dumped the sample on top of the Nutro and within five mins I had a handful of kibble on the ground in front of her dish. She tried it but clearly wasn't impressed as she was basically spitting it out.

Opened up the Orijen bag and you already know, down the hatch. So this is a great tasting dog food, just be warned, once you go Orijen you can't go back :)

HASH(0xa75ba18c) out of 5 stars spend the money Feb. 6 2014

We have been using orijen for years now and our two dogs have never been healthier. We have an 85 lb mastiff-lab mix from the spca and a 60 lb boxer-hound mix from the spca. Both are thriving on this food. Their coats, teeth, and energy levels are as healthy as they can be. When we first got our 85 lb, Reginald, he had constant ear infections and flaky skin. We tried the costco stuff and taste of the wild, but this is the only food that seemed to clear everything up. Even our vet remarks on how healthy he his, and they sell that Science Diet junk. We did lots of research before purchasing this food, and found it worth the money to have so many of the top ingredients meat, and the rest fruits and vegetables. We rotate between this and the 6 fish, and the Adult, and it is pricier than the grocery store options, but we only tend to go through a little over a bag a month between our two. I am sure different dogs react differently to different foods, but I don't buy into all that too high protein bologna. Our dogs have seen no issue with the high protein content, and it simply means that there is meat in the food and not junk. This the absolute best dry kibble on the market, and we love our dogs like family, so we cannot see giving them anything less. We don't have time to cook for ourselves, so of course we don't have time to cook for the dogs, and I'm a little wary of the risks and time commitment to feeding raw. One day we hope to have the budget to up to Orijen's freeze-dried food, but that is quite a step yet. For the time being, this has been a great experience and surely will give our dogs long healthy lives.
