So much better than I ever expected!
Wow, I got this unit and could not be happy with the waffles this waffle maker can create.
Only as background information - I had purchased the 4 slice Belgian waffle maker made by All-Clad and ended up returning the All-Clad unit to the store I purchased it from. The All-Clad machine was and is a stunning looking machine - - -BUT it also did have issues with even heat distribution.
Honestly speaking, you don't spend that kind of money to have that sort of issue unless of course you are simply buying it as a decoration for your kitchen counter.
Don't get me wrong - the machine produced beautiful Belgian Waffles that were thick and fluffy - just not evenly cooked.
I decided to give the Oster Belgian Waffle Maker a try - - after all, it was less than $33.00 and figured I did not have much to loose - and it has impressive reviews.
The Oster Belgian Waffle Maker actually makes nicer waffles than the All clad unit that I mentioned above - - The waffles produced by the Oster machine are just as fluffy and the cooking heat is evenly distributed across the entire waffle plate.
The unit is very basic but it seems that basic wins the prize here. I found the heat control on this unit to be accurate and allows for a full range of "goldeness" in your waffle and it was very easy to clean up after and it stored away in my already cramped kitchen cupboard with easy.
The size is actually perfect if your household is 2 people and I can honestly say that if your a family of 4-6, why not purchase 2-3 units instead. This is more than affordable and while the Oster name is not a "status" brand name, it certainly is a name that has been around for a very long time and it does exactly what it is meant to do - - it makes great Belgian waffles!
If I could change anything about the Oster Belgian Waffle Maker - - it would be nice if it was a bit heavier feeling - - -I know this has nothing to do with how it makes waffles but a little more weight wouldn't hurt from a perceived quality point of view. Also, a small timer wouldn't hurt either. The timer could be stand alone timer and would just be handy to have.
Overall thought, I highly recommend this product and will update this feedback after several months of use and will include some pictures of the Belgian Waffles this unit produces.
Go ahead - - just buy one and see for yourself.
