Seemed a little short. Or maybe it was just one of those books that you just can't help but pick up and read in one sitting. I really enjoyed this one. Kind of dark, a little gory. Cannot complain at all. Seems like it would be tailor made to be turned into an episode of The Outer Limits or The Twilight Zone or something.

This was an interesting read for a werewolf story. Some chilling action and some very timely plot twists kept me reading until the very end. Definitely worth a look

HASH(0x9ad516f0) out of 5 stars Chilling Read! June 23 2014

This is one of the best and most frightening stories I have read in a long time. It was so good I read it in one day. The descriptive writing made me feel as though I was actually in the cold, dark house with the characters. I highly recommend this to anyone that is in the mood for a scary story. Just make sure you are not alone in the house and have a sweater close by and you'll be in for a treat!

I must say I was a bit leery at first. It seemed like a lot of words were glorified and then I just wanted slap the stuffing out of Abby. Everything is happening in a huge snow storm. As it happens I'm sitting here reading this book and it's been a snowing on and off for the last week. It's freezing outside so I'm really feeling Abby's coldness. But at the same time I'm thinking to myself, "Okay so the power is out and you are freaking yourself out and you own a 2 wheel drive useless car in 8 inches of snow and your best thought is to try to leave your house?" Course I grew up in this weather and come from a family of farmers that couldn't just up and leave and we managed and found a way (I know that sounds a bit pioneerish, but it's true, who's gonna feed the livestock if you run away? Build a fire!) I was also thinking in one sentence she can't hardly see a foot in front of her but yet she could make out blood pools from a distance and see the werewolf with no problem. This is minor though and I was kinda trying to look through it. I also thought she was wearing sweatpants, but then she tucks the gun in her jeans? I probably missed that she was wearing jeans but still.

Overall, being trapped in a horrible cold snow storm like this book with werewolves chasing and eating everyone is creepy. And I'll admit I did get a chill here and there. And for all my trying to look through it, I really did enjoy it and read it in an hour and half. I'm going to buy the sequel, Outage 2: The Awakening I'm just hoping it will be published in print/paperback too, cause I need a copy for my shelf.

If it wasn't a good werewolf story I wouldn't have eaten up they way I did and wouldn't be looking for the next book. So good job Mr. Piperbrook!

HASH(0x9aaa6dbc) out of 5 stars Creepy Goodness July 19 2014

T.W. Piperbrook's Outage is a quick read, and not just because it's shorter than most novels. I read it quickly because I couldn't put it down. The story oozes creepiness from the very first page and doesn't let up until the final word at the end of the book.

In many ways, the telling of this story is reminiscent of Stephen King. Like King, Piperbrook creates tension through the thoughts and feelings of his characters. When it's done right, the reader's fears rise and fall right along with the characters' fears... and T.W. Piperbrook does this very well.

I was not expecting the story to end how it did and it definitely left me wanting more. Outage is scary, intense, and a lot of fun-- sort of like a roller coaster ride for the mind. And like any great roller coaster, once you're off, you want to get back on! Fortunately for us, Piperbrook is supposed to have Outage 2 out very soon. I'm looking forward to seeing where the story goes from here.

I recommend Outage to anyone who enjoys a well-written story filled with heart-pounding thrills and chills!

HASH(0x9ad88ee4) out of 5 stars Let a hero stick around March 31 2015

I've liked other books by this author so decided to try the first and second of this series. Have to say that there wasn't anyone left to care about at the end of the first one that I felt vested in. I'm in the second one now and if I don't get a hero who will stay alive for awhile, I won't read another.

HASH(0x9b2519a8) out of 5 stars Great new addition to my Piperbrook collection! Feb. 24 2015

This book proves that T.W. Piperbrook can write more than just zombie novels. I loved the character development, the suspense and the story line. The end was a surprise for me but I've started book two and it starts up right where one ended and I appreciate that in a series. Now excuse me, I have a book to read!
