About the Author
From the Publisher

It’s time to get real, get well, and get free!
In Own Your Self, explore the surprising path to living a med-free life through a deep appreciation of the meaning behind your symptoms. Our experiences reflect what we need to accept, acknowledge, and transform in order to truly become our adult selves. Only when we embrace our experiences can we begin to live a healthful, natural life without relying on substances and a mindset that rob us of our true power. All it takes is a commitment to curiosity, and we hope that this book will inspire this life-changing shift.

Kelly Brogan's most urgent message is about the commitment you must make in order to benefit from the lessons in this book. That commitment is this: put your self-care first, and do that every day. From that space, everything gets clear, and you find yourself the protagonist in the adventure of your most beautiful life.

Give your body-soul and mind the best gift ever and buy her book(s) and try her program. I am going to start reading them again for a second time--and that's another thing I have never done before.
The message to embrace all feelings, find the root cause, and make any changes that are needed to allow yourself to live your life to the fullest is timely in today’s world. A rainbow wouldn’t be a rainbow if we removed green and blue from it. Likewise life isn’t as full and rewarding if we remove some of the many shades of feelings from it.
This book has a guide of where to start with changes - but more than that, it offers the reader reassurance that wherever they are right now, there is hope to heal and that the reader is ultimately their own source of authority for learning what works best for them.
There is no one-size-fits-all answer for anything. I appreciate how this book discusses many taboo topics in a matter of fact way that leaves hope and room for self empowerment.
Can you imagine a world where all feelings were acceptable, could be talked about without fear of how someone else is going to react, and could be addressed without receiving the message that something is inherently wrong with you? This is what this book asks us to all consider, and it provides a starting map of how to get there, along with a strong message of hope.
Highly recommend this book for anyone who is looking for ideas of things they might try for themselves or for anyone who wants to get an idea of how much is possible when the body is supported through a root cause approach.

I entered into it not believing I could last a single day without coffee or milk. Putting my faith and trust in Kelly’s message i emerged from the withdrawal stage feeling fantastic. My body felt calm and I felt I was less in the trance that my sugar addiction had subjected me too and more able to concentrate the mind. I put off the coffee enemas of the detox week but eventually started the daily practice on Day 20 and experienced another step change. I feel so well.
On the eve of the final day of the 30 day reset I have finished reading ‘Own Your Self’ . The book introduces the ideas of unconscious patterns imprinted in childhood and encourages us to make conscious those imprints that affect our well being. We can peel away the falsely constructed layers of our perceived identity so that we can get to know what feels good to us after years of self abandonment and denial. The protocol gives a clarity of mind that helps this endeavour. Thoroughly recommend this book.

"The VMR program is centered around a diet that is rich in animal foods as a tool for healing the mind and body. While we respect your personal decision to eliminate these foods from your diet, we do not have a vegetarian or vegan version of this program available because Dr. Brogan does not recommend these diets in her treatment. We do think it’s still possible to benefit in some way from this program while following all other guidelines, however, we are not able to suggest that you will have optimal results if you do not strictly follow the dietary guidelines..."
I am not bothering to read the rest of the book. To say it has set me back... She makes all of these promises and then has taken them all away. Fortunately I am of a mind where I can be rational and think ' what absolute GUFF' and dismiss it for the garbage it is. I highly advise that she put a disclaimer early on in her books (i.e. this is not suitable for those following a vgetarian/vegan lifestyle) rather than let us spend money on the book and feel let down. Thank god I didn't join the VMR course!
So - back to square one. The search continues.
