Excellent quality of translations. The papers and pictures are in excellent quality.

The dictionary contains 12 different subjects. Well explained, nice colored pictures.

It will be appreciated by foreigners who want to learn Vietnamese; or by native Vietnameses who want to learn and/or consult English & Vietnamese.

HASH(0xa379a7c8) out of 5 stars Helpful for beginners Oct. 1 2010

This is geared toward native Vietnamese speakers learning English, but if you are a native English speaker learning Vietnamese, like me, it is just as helpful. A good companion to a standard dictionary.

HASH(0xa58862b8) out of 5 stars This is my 2nd time ordering the same book!! April 23 2013

My first language is vietnamese and born in the states. However, my Vietnamese is not as fluent as I wished. So I ordered the Oxford Picture Dictionary and it was sooooo helpful. I can speak read and write Vietnamese, but more at a middle school level. I still find this book very useful. There are words I don't know that I can quickly scan thought the book and get the translation to Vietnamese. The pictures are clear with old colors. LOVE this book!! The first I ordered for myself and my friend enjoyed it as much as I did so I gave it to her and ordered another for myself!

HASH(0xa58861bc) out of 5 stars Useful tool for ESL March 30 2009
By Minh H. Tran - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
My program used the 1st edition of this text and found it quite useful for our adult-students, it is quite helpful for my Vietnamese students, who have no knowledge of the English language. Students compare the quoc ngu to the English but sometimes found it difficult to pronounce the words. Other than that, it contains a wide range of subject matters that are relevant to daily life.

HASH(0xa379ab10) out of 5 stars Best friend to anyone learning a new language! July 22 2013
By Auntie - Published on Amazon.com

As a recreational ESOL teacher, I have found all of the Bilingual Oxford Picture Dictionaries to be the student's new best friends. Where once they would just parrot back a word, once the OPD were introduced in thier own language, understanding -- learning was achieved.

I love that words can be looked up in both English and the student's language. I also love that there are distinct themes.

My only regret/ suggestion is there aren't more words. Can you please add more words in your next addition.

We have used the OPD in French, Hatian Creole, Spanish, Brazillian Portueges, Chinese as well as the Vietnamese. I know we will continue to use these and other languages as the need presents.

HASH(0xa358e210) out of 5 stars Too much Oct. 12 2008
By Lee Chen - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
I like the 1998 edition which is clear and straight forward as a dictionary. The new edition has too much stuff going on each page. I teach Beginning Low level ESL and it is overwhelming for the students. They see the words, sentences, conversations, stories on one page. It is too much. From the old edition, I can introduce the vocabulary to the students and add the related materials accordingly. I will keep using the 1998 edition dictionary.
