Product Description

Review

'This excellent workbook, based on a rich body of research, will be helpful to anyone who has experienced a sudden, incomprehensible event or suffered lifelong abuse. The authors have provided readers with a clear, comprehensive explanation of trauma, accompanied by practical yet creative exercises to help them manage their trauma symptoms. It's also a valuable resource for clinicians as well as members of the general public striving to understand trauma and return to everyday functioning.'
- Betty Stevens-Guille, PhD, CPsych , trauma specialist, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada

'For those who believe that they will never feel 'normal' after a traumatic event, this workbook provides many techniques that survivors can use to jump-start their recovery… an extremely important tool for growth and strength.'
- James D. Baxendale, PhD, CTS

' The PTSD Workbook, Second Edition , is an excellent resource for those directly affected by a critical or traumatic event, as well as for professionals working in the trauma field. Filled to the brink with concrete, helpful tools and useful information, it will guide the reader in reducing the untoward effects of trauma. Clinical wisdom is combined with evidence-based information in a very readable book. Having worked with trauma and loss for over thirty years I know that this book will be an indispensable guide for the field.'
- Atle Dyregrov, PhD , director at the Center for Crisis Psychology, Bergen, Norway

This revised workbook is based on the latest research, but written with the same warmth and wisdom that informs the first edition. It is a classic for those who live with severe trauma on an ongoing basis."
- M.E. Stevens-Guille, PhD "

Great Book. it's hard to face some parts of the workbook but it's important to work through it and get the support you need to work through it. It's also very educational. I learned so much about my symptoms and was able to connect the dots so I don't worry as much about my physical symptoms as much, which helps to break the loop from worry to pain to more pain to more worry and so on. Good luck.

This book is comprehensive and insightful. It shed light on some issues that I couldn't have seen on my own. It is a good guide but I don't suggest that someone use it by themselves. For this kind of therapy, one needs a therapist as well. Someone said "People heal people."

This is a good book that is challenging and rewarding for PTSDers to read and work through. The cautions and reminders to take care of oneself while working through the exercises are helpful. There is lots of information presented about PTSD in a very readable fashion. If a survivor of trauma had to work through those experiences and the resulting symptoms of PTSD alone, this is definitely a good place to start. I like to use some of the exercises with my teenage clients who are dealing with trauma-related symptoms.

I am presently in Private Practice and have been faced, recently, with a number of clients who are dealing with PTSD. I have found this workbook to be a wonderful tool for my clients to work through in conjunction with their counselling sessions. They have reported it to be really useful in helping them understand what they are experiencing and to normalize those feelings, both physical and emotional. When used in conjuction with professional counselling, I have found that it has expedited the healing process. I recommend it as long as a professional counsellor or psychotherapist is working through it with the person experiencing PTSD. It is a wonderful tool for a professional to have in their arsenal.
