Product Description

***The 1st standalone novel in The Pucked Series***

With a famous NHL player for a stepbrother, Violet Hall is well acquainted with the playboy reputation of many a hockey star. So of course she isn’t interested in legendary team captain Alex Waters or his pretty, beat-up face and rock-hard six-pack abs. When Alex inadvertently obliterates Violet’s misapprehension regarding the inferior intellect of hockey players, he becomes much more than just a hot body with the face to match.

Suffering from a complete lapse in judgment, Violet discovers just how good Alex is with the hockey stick in his pants. Violet believes her night of orgasmic magic with Alex is just that: one night. But Alex starts to call. And text. And email and send extravagant—and quirky—gifts. Suddenly, he's too difficult to ignore, and nearly impossible not to like.

The problem is, the media portrays Alex as a total player, and Violet doesn’t want to be part of the game.

I absolutely loved this book, it had it all plus more. You have the hot hockey player who's romantic and a little "cocky" or should I say very "cocky". 😉 this book was steamy hot at times and LOL at other times. Loved the Canadianisms throughout the book and the mention of my favourite hockey team, The Flames. Highly recommend this book.

This was a very pleasant surprise!!!!! I so enjoyed this book, by a Canadian writer yet! Very well written. Great storyline. Well developed characters. I loved Violet, and also loved Alex. Imagine a well-educated hockey player kinda like Ken Dryden. This was a very enjoyable read and I am hoping there's more to come from Helena, about Buck and Charlene.

There are some books that you read and you just don't want them to end , this is one of those books !!
Being a Canadian, I loved the the Canuck references and my family comes from around Muskoka Lake
so it was nice to read the references to the area.

The two main characters Alex and Violet are hilarious and the troubles they get into expressing their affection
for each other totally had me laughing out loud.Violet is such an irreverent personality, her descriptions of
male parts etc are so original and hilarious.

It was nice to read both main characters thoughts usually the story from one character's angle so I loved reading
both sides of the story.

The part that had me just about in tears, happy tears was when Violet dressed up Alex's Snuffie like a superhero
and just about strangles Alex in a very original way .....

And many Americans say we Canadians don't have a sense of humor eh !
This book proves some of us have a very fresh,
original sense of humor and I loved the book.

I sure hope Helena will write the story of Darren and Charlene and Buck the stepbrother of Violet whom she calls the Yeti
as she thinks he is so hairy, also is a great support character.

Read the book and have a laugh filled read , highly recommended

I can't tell you how much I enjoyed this. It is so unformulaic, poking fun at the genre and itself that it's hard to classify. The language is real, not euphemistic, and so endearing. With romances, you know they'll end well, so it's the journey that's important, and this was a wild, unpredictable and laugh-out-loud ride. I will probably read everything else by this author before the weekend.

I can't remember the last time I laughed so insanely hard while reading a book. Honestly, I thought nice people in white coats were going to show up and haul me off to a padded room somewhere.

Violet and Alex are couple who fall in lust and then, unwittingly, in love.

Violet's from a blended family that is deeply immersed in the sport of hockey. Her step-father is a NHL scouting agent and her step-brother is a NHL player. Her mother is a booster of all things hockey. Following a disastrous relationship with a wannabe NHL player, Violet swears off the pucks until her step-brother's team ends up in the playoffs for the Stanley Cup and she's dragged to one of the games to support him.

Enter Alex, the captain of her step-brother's team. He lands face first into the boards directly in front of Violet, they lock eyes and the game is on.

Through a series of trials and tribulations, Violet and Alex navigate the tricky pathways of a new relationship. Strewn with media mis-information and faulty communication, theirs is a relationship full of embarrassing, hilarious and raucous moments. Violet's lack of verbal filter overlays the entire story and is the basis for many cringeworthy moments.

Helena Hunting has many gifts - her ability to tell a story with humour is paramount in the list. Her books are a must-read for anyone wanting a good laugh. This one is no exception.

I love how Hunting's writing and story telling seems to be so limitless. She can easily writing something so fantastically dark and angsty as Clipped Wings. To something as silly and romcom like as Pucked. Keeps readers on their toes.
Pucked is something you pick up when you want a good laugh drizzled with sexiness. Sports romances are a weakness of mine. Doesn't matter if I could careless about the sport. Throw it in with a good romance and I'm hooked. If you couldn't guess, Pucked is centered around hockey. Although I will watch hockey, I am not a fan. I know, bad Canadian. But Pucked was great. The atmosphere of the sport and this team of NHL players brought so much fun to the story whether on or off the ice.
Violet was super sassy. I would line up to be her bff. Violet is secure in her own skin well still adjusting to adulthood. Violet's step brother is a NHLer. Her step dad is a scout. Hockey is her life whether she wants it to be or not. That's where she meets Alex. Her stop brothers teammate, one of hockeys young stars and major player.
Oh Alex really proves the saying that looks can be deceiving. Alex might not be the player everyone(and I mean everyone) thinks he is. But Violet doesn't know that. She just knows that oops they had sex and it was amazing. Shouldn't do that again. Alex is such a sweetheart. I loved his juxtaposition of hard secure hockey player on ice, Off the ice he can be shy, a little insecure and totally sweet. That's how I would build up Violet's and Alex's relationship; plenty hot, great great banter and sweet.
Pucked is laugh out loud way too many times to count. The silliness just brings it. The things that come out of Violet's mouth could scar some ears. She's my kind of girl.
