Product Description

***The 2nd standalone novel in The Pucked Series***

Miller “Buck” Butterson has been banging his way through life ever since a puck to the face fixed his messed up front teeth. After five years in the NHL, deflecting goals on the ice and scoring them with puck bunnies, Miller has decided he’s ready for a girlfriend. A real, non-bunny girlfriend to take on dates, and not jump into bed with after five seconds of conversation.

Miller thinks he’s found that woman in his teammate’s sister. Except, unlike team captain and all-around nice guy Alex Waters—who happens to date his stepsister, Miller’s media reputation as a manwhore is well earned. Beyond that minor detail, Miller doesn’t know the first thing about relationships or the time and effort they require.

Miller learns—eventually—that if he wants to make Sunshine “Sunny” Waters fall for him, he's going to have to do a whole lot more than show her his stick skills in the bedroom.

Romance, hockey, humour...what's not to love? If you read Pucked, you'll enjoy a little Alex and Violet, but this book is even better. I loved the silly humour, but there was more love story to this one, more...humanity. Sexy, hot humanity, but still ;) the ridiculous puns and countless euphemisms for man parts will keep you smiling, maybe even giggling, but you'll fall for Buck. He's the heart of the story. The book is incredibly well edited (not so with all indie pubs, especially in this genre) and the plot is light-hearted, but tight. Even if you didn't read Pucked, this book stands alone pretty well, I think.
If you want a fun & sexy read, this one is highly recommended. I've read all of Helena's books twice ;)

After reading and absolutely loving Violet and Alex in Pucked, I was thrilled when Pucked up arrived on my Kindle.

This is Violet's stepbrother, Miller 'Buck' Butterson and Alex's sister, Sunny's story. After reading Pucked and the way Vi portrayed Buck to be, I expected him to be this guy who he really wasn't. Confusing, eh? Well, yes and no, but if you read Pucked book one first, this'll help put everything into perspective. Buck is really sweet deep down, who after falling for Sunny, wants to try to reassure her that he isn’t that person the press and social media make him out to be. Gossip is rife; her listening to the opinions of others could put a spanner in the works. In other words, he wants her to believe and trust in him.

This story showed Buck's more emotional side. How his Dyslexia affected his life and just what he was doing to help those less fortunate. This book didn't have the same laugh out loud moments that Pucked had; nevertheless, it did make me chuckle with the more unfortunate comical situations that Buck found himself in. Some of the things he said and what went through his mind, made me crack up. The two following quotes were without a doubt, my favourites.

Buck: “Pfft. Waters couldn’t break my d**k off if he tried. It’s made of straight magic, like a unicorn horn. Except not sharp. And made of flesh instead of whatever mythical substance unicorn horns are made of. But it’s unbreakable.”

Buck thinking out aloud: “Being the provider of the first big “O” gives me some power. It elevates my status. I’m the White Knight in the land of Orgasmia, wielding my magical sword of awesome.”

I was so frustrated with Sunny though.

I liked book one, but I never anticipated Pucked Up would pack the punch it did for me. I loved it. The overall mood for the story is pretty light, but it does hit some deeper points.

Honestly, I really wasn't expecting much from Buck, but, after getting to know him, he's found his way onto my top book boyfriends list. First off, his heart is as big as North America. He bumbles into the most ridiculous situations where you want to hide your eyes but can't help but chuckle. Learning of his struggles growing up and his dyslexia issues made me want to snuggle him. Speaking of snuggling, he's the biggest softie ever. Also important, he has excellent bedroom skills.

The main couple of this book is Sunny and Buck. She is the vegan, yoga instructing, no make up wearing, animal shelter volunteering little sister to Waters. He is professional hockey playing, puck bunny attracting wearer of the big dumb jock label. I really enjoyed getting to know them both more. They're both pretty awesome. Much of the plot is about the romance between Buck and Sunny, but many other relationships are included. Violet and Buck have a great one. I get a kick out of how they antagonize each other but are always there to back one another. Also, there are some parent and grown child moments. Teammates and friends aggravate, fight with and rally one another.

I laughed, teared up and my heart grew two sizes. This storyline met all my basic needs for an excellent read. Even if you don't normally like sports romance, you should check it out.

Loved this story!!! Miller (or Buck as some call him) and Sunshine (or Sunny) are a sweet couple. Miller has always been a player, but when he meets Sunny (Alex's sister) he realizes he has to change his lifestyle. Unfortunately the press won't leave Miller alone and he seems to always get himself into awkward situations giving Sunny the wrong impression. Not only does the press give him a hard time but his sister Violet is engaged to his team captain Alex who doesn't believe that he has changed his ways. A very sweet story told in Miller's perspective. Looking forward the Helena's next book in the series so I can continue reading about all my favourite characters!! Also nice having all the Canadianism's!! Great job!!

In Pucked Up, Helena Hunting's second book in the Pucked series, we learn more about Violet's hockey playing, player of a step-brother, Miller McButterson (aka Buck), and his new love interest, Sunshine "Sunny" Waters. The story is told entirely from Buck's POV. His history of playing with puck bunnies and social media's dedication to reporting the same cause Buck problem after problem where Sunny is concerned even though he does his best to clean up his act and win Sunny over. His own struggle with dyslexia adds to his difficulties. Sunny's calm, forgiving and accepting disposition is the perfect foil to Buck's chaotic life and, as in all good HEAs, they find their way through the madness.
