I have read numerous books on nutrition as I am a nutritional consultant and this is by far the best and most comprehensive book I have ever read. I am autoimmune and the information in this book has really helped me to understand why I this diet is so important for someone with an autoimmune condition and why even after following this diet to the letter for one year, my symptoms returned when I tried reintroducing night shades and some gluten free grains. As long as I follow the information in this book I feel well. I am also sensitive to some FODMAP foods and thanks to Sarah's amazing advice I am now able to use onions and garlic in my recipes again with her fabulous suggestions. This book is a must have for anyone who wants to feel better. Sarah deserves an award for this book and I am telling everyone I know about it. If there was only one book to choose on nutrition from all the books out there this is the one book I would say is a must have. If I could, I would give it 10 stars!

This is an amazing book with a lot of detail. It will really help you start up on your recovery. I have been on it for about 2 months and have seen improvement in my symptoms.

I have had to deal with an autoimmune disease. The book has everything about the AIP approach. Many chapters are very scientific and hard to understand for someone who is not from a science background but it is good that it is there if someone does want to learn it.

For people interested in just following the approach the other chapters layout perfectly and it is very understandable what you need to do to get results. It is very important to study the book properly before applying the approach.

It was very tough for me to get started but once I did it, I was amazed by the changes. You have to freeze food a lot because you wont have options to eat on the go. The biggest Issues I had was the possibility of eating where ever and when ever. I am still going through the process and I can see that hard work was put into the book and the results can be maximized by studying and following it adequately.

From beginning to end, thank you Sarah Ballantyne for your comprehensive writing. For those of the population that suffer from Autoimmune disease and have uncontrollable symptoms despite medication, this book is a fantastic source of information. Ms. Ballantyne provides her own information as well as information regarding other source material and continually advises that nothing should be undertaken without discussing with your health care providers. This is a great read. For those that are doubtful of this, as I was of any "diet" to control autoimmune symptoms, you have nothing to lose by trying it, and everything to gain... so far, my health has only improved.

I was vegetarian & vegan for years. I sincerely prefer to eat this way. But unfortunately my body does not do well at all. If you are like me & suffer from an autoimmune condition this book is one of the few books available that may help. I don't know why there are so few reviews here on Amazon.ca compared to the USA website. I truly do understand the horror one of the reviewers here expressed about cruelty to animals & disgust at the consumption of them. But I hope that one review doesn't keep someone from reading this book. When you have tried everything to find relief from decades of suffering & something like the recommendations in this book works, you are both humbled & grateful that something does. UPDATE DECEMBER 26 2015 : Paleo did not work (and neither did the GAPS diet either). It failed long term for my health issues. I returned to a vegan diet but LOW FAT vegan because my autoimmune condition worsened high fat and all my research indicated high fat vegans were more unhealthy than people who ate a standard American diet. I was raw low fat vegan for almost a year with more amazing recovery than Paleo. Now I continue low fat vegan focusing on raw but eating some cooked for economical reasons. I reduced the stars to four (there is no way I can reduce to 3 apparently) because the science seems solid but in fact a low fat diet helped me in ways a high fat diet couldn't and I am relieved to not contribute to animal suffering.

Overwhelming amount of information. If you want to understand in detail what is going on in your body when you have leaky gut or autoimmune disease this book is a must have. I haven't even made it to the part on what I'm supposed to do about it yet and have already been raving about it to friends.

Being someone who has been suffering from "The unknown illness" Sydrome for years (I am only 21), I have done my own research over the past 3 years on auto immunity, diet, and the gut brain connection to heal myself. This book is absolutely amazing for someone who is just starting out in the area of body nutrition, how the body works in certain autoimmune conditions, why diet plays a huge role in our society, etc. Sarah provides a lot of scientific evidence that shows how auto immunity IS linked to diet and various other life style factors/antibiotic use, painkiller use, vaccinations... However, 90% of the things in this book I had already learned on my own research time. In three years I gathered basically all of the information in this book by myself. Long story short, if you want to learn about the very fundamentals of health, this is your go-to book if you don't want to spend the next three years researching. This book was no help for me as I knew the majority of the information in the book and was anticipating a diet plan for people who need to be on an auto immune paleo protocol. This book not provide recipes, diet samples, rotations of food, etc. but rather mostly the foods to avoid and to implement in your diet instead. If you are some one who is already well versed in the area of Autoimmune Paleo, I recommend you just completely skip this book and head straight to an autoimmune cook book instead. This book is mostly for people who need that extra push out of being skeptics onto the Paleo bandwagon (that has drastically improved the quality of my life, mind you. I am just not exactly where I would like to be yet. I have recently discovered that I have 80 food intolerances, and am sure I have much to do with sealing my leaky gut.) Happy health everyone.
