Excellent overview of the Paleo lifestyle. I have been Paleo for 6 weeks now and I cannot tell you the difference that it is making in my life. A whole host of symptoms are falling away. Everything that Katy says is true in terms of not wanting to return to the typical American diet. You will start to feel so incredible that it is just not worth it. Bad cravings are replaced by good healthy ones! Make the commitment for 30 days, I promise you will be forever changed. Thank you, Katy, for your straight-forward overview of the Paleo lifestyle.

This is really just a primer at best. It's clear that the author is passionate about Paleo, but most of it is just a lecture on why you should do a Paleo diet. There is very little information about how to go about doing that. Don't eat gluten, dairy, or highly processed foods, and learn to cook. There's your summary. It's not that there isn't good information in the book, there is just not enough. I hope the author continues to research the topic and come out with the second edition. This is just chapter one of much larger topic. The reality is that it will leave you wanting to learn more so you will end up having to buy another book in addition to this one anyway. I went with Robb Wolf's book, it sounds like he has done a good deal of research and at first glance it looks like it should be a good resource. We'll see. The good news is that this is a very short read, you can finish it in one sitting.

this book is just a basic description of what Paleo is. There is not much detail or scientific explanation. Obviously fast food and processed packaged food is unhealthy, but why is Paleo a better alternative to vegetarianism or just eating whole foods? I've read this whole book and I still don't know.

It also goes over the benefits that you get from having a paleo diet along with giving you a general level of disgust in regards to the chemical laden food we are currently given to eat.
