The pixies in Neverland are dying and one pixie goes to the mainland to try and get some help. The pixie finds a boy named Peter who is collecting souls and chooses him to be the savior of Neverland.

Will Peter be up to the task or will he have his own agenda?

This book is a quick introduction into Neverland and our main characters - Peter and a Pixie that Peter names Tink.

I thought the book was a good and quick read and it appears that the series will be interesting. I think it was a good introduction but I was almost hoping for a little more.

Tink obviously cares for the survival of the Pixies and therefore looks for help but I'm thinking she got more than she bargained for with Peter! I hope we get to know the Lost Boys more.

K R. Thompson is amazing author who can bring fantasy to life with this story of pan. Pan is a guardian and helps young souls find their place in the ever after. But Pan wants to be more ,when that he wants to be a human boy and with the help of Tink and some fairy dust .He will journey to Neverland in hopes he might help the Neverlandians to continue to exist. This author has a unique way to engage us as readers and allows us to escape through her pages to Neverland and to join pan on his journey of help. The way K.R .Thompson uses her words to describe the characters in her story is fabulous done, As you read you can see the picture of the land and of Pan so clearly it is amazing. I will not go any more in to details of this book because then I'm giving away spoilers of this amazing book and that is not fair .So I totally recommend getting a copy and read it and let your dreams about Pan come true.

5.0 out of 5 stars A very different view of the boy who wouldn't grow up... Sept. 10 2015
By Amanda Miller- A Bookaholic's Fix: Feeding the Addiction - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition
Wow... That pretty much sums up my thoughts on this novella.

I will admit that I have never read the original Peter Pan although I have read children's books based on the original. I have seen Disney's animated version as well as the sequel and the Tinkerbell moviews, Hook starring Robin Williams and Dustin Hoffman, and the the musical version with Mary Martin more times than I can count. (I actually have them memorized and usually annoy those that watch it with me.) I have also watched the 2003 movie Peter Pan with Jeremy Sumpter and the newer musical with Allison Williams, AND I have the newest movie Pan with Hugh Jackman on my to be watched list. As you can see, I have always loved the story of the mischievous boy who never wanted to grow up and the tales of his world.

While I have come across the theory that Peter Pan was some sort of reaper charged with taking children's souls when they died, this is the first time I read a story that used this particular version of the tale. Even though, it gave a melancholic back story for Peter, it was beautifully written. I was completely enchanted by every heartbreaking detail. Thompson goes even further and gives Peter characteristics not usually associated with his carefree nature turning Peter Pan into a far more complex character than any other adaptation I've seen.

I absolutely loved the way the details of Peter's existence were chronicled. Everything that happened, each event and decision shaped the character that eventually took the name Pan. I enjoyed the clever way the author explained why Peter called the fairy Tink and why the lost boys had names like Patch and Toodles. This creative backstory of Peter Pan makes me look at the story in a whole new light.

Now, the story centers on Peter but comes more from Tink's perspective. The pixies in Neverland need someone to believe in them if they are going to survive. She takes it upon herself to find a way to save them and restore their magic and thus brings Peter to Neverland. From there, the story unfolds and takes on a life of its own providing a new take on a beloved classic. It is amazing to see a story so well constructed that it makes you consider aspects to the story you've never thought about before.

The characters are wonderfully depicted and the story sucked me in and wouldn't let go. This is definitely a 5-Star read. I am in love with the world Thompson has created and I cannot wait to see what other adventures await!

5.0 out of 5 stars I loved it!!! Sept. 16 2015
By Jessica Surgett - Published on

*I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I really enjoyed Pan. The story is short and sweet, and sheds new light on a classic tale. Ever wonder how Peter Pan became the boy who could fly and never grow old? Ever wonder how he met Tink, or why there are mermaids in Neverland? This book explains all that and more. The plot is intriguing and I'm already eager for the next book- the story of Hook. Pan answers a lot of questions I always had about Neverland while building a new layer to the story as well. I really loved the darker tone of it. Peter is not exactly the hero we know him as, and I have a feeling Hook might not be completely villainous either. This adds a new depth to the familiar characters and makes the story fresh and compelling. I also really liked that the story is told from Tink's point of view. Seeing the humans through her eyes is an interesting experience. I can't wait to read more!

KR Thompson has a unique way to engage the reader and allow the reader to fully escape into her world. Her use of words to describe her characters allows the reader to easily picture all that hey are. KR Thompson is an extremely talented author, one of my all time favourites.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Marvelous Retelling of a Beloved Fairy it Should Be Sept. 16 2015
By Liberty Ann Ireland - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition
As a lover of Fairy Tales near and far, I could not wait to get Pan: The Untold Stories of Neverland into my hands. While the tale of Peter Pan has never been my favorite, characters in it are certainly well-beloved in this house. Take Tink for instance. What would we do without the world's most beloved fairy? K.R. Thompson's slant that Neverland is losing it's magic thus Tink set out to save it is perfect. And Tick Tock, Captain Hook's nemisis? I've always had a deep and abiding love for the Villains - perhaps my mother should have had me see a shrink when I was a small child. I was glad to see that he has become, if anything, more devious and wily. But the change I loved the most? The reason why Peter Pan is in Neverland! Because he didn't want to grow up has never set well with me and KR Thompson's telling makes all the sense in the world!

So if you believe, really and truly believe. If you might have once believed or know someone who might believe, run, RUN, RUN, don't walk and get your very own copy of this marvelous retelling of the story of Peter Pan. For you see, I believe, Fairy Tales are meant to be retold, over and over and over again, never exactly the same way twice.

Rating: The Scale is broken but we shall go with 5 for good measure. A MUST READ
I received this book in exchange for my honest and unbiased review. No further compensation was received.

5.0 out of 5 stars More Please!!! Aug. 1 2015
By E.S. - Published on
Format: Paperback
I started this series with Hook, and this is the book that comes before it.
It was a quick and easy read. I fell in love with "Tink" and now I can't wait for the rest of the story, watching Neverland take shape.
Poor Pan is the ferry boy to the dead. He removes the souls of small boys from their rooms after they've passed and takes them to the land of the dead. Only Pan can't move forward and he can't go back to being a little boy again. Tink has been watching him as he does this and decides he is the one to believe in pixies and keep them alive. She takes him with her to Neverland and slowly finds that maybe Pan is more than just a rambunctious ghost boy. Things start to spiral and it takes on a darker edge.
A fairytale feel that keeps you turning the pages. Can't wait for the next.
