Product Description

From Publishers Weekly

Co-founders of the online magazine Healthy Wealhty 'n' Wise, husband and wife team Bray and Attwood have produced a self-help guide with a simple test at its core, requiring readers to list and prioritize their goals, wants and desires, weeding and striking until they have just five "passions" listed; those are then held against one's life to determine how close one is to each (readers are encouraged to retake the test every six months). A full life steeped in passion is achievable, the authors assert, through the application of three concepts: intention, attention and "no tension." In part one, these concepts are explored in depth, along with seven steps for "Living Life Aligned with Passion"; part two puts these ideas into action. Throughout, the text is peppered with anecdotes, theories and analysis from experts and colleagues who have taken the test and put it to use in their lives. There's nothing revolutionary about Bray and Attwood's technique, but it's a simple (if not exactly "effortless") approach to organizing and prioritizing that's both practical and intuitive.

People like to knock books like these because their ideas are perhaps too simple. My thinking, however, is just the opposite- all the good ideas that really work ARE simple.

To me, the biggest value of this book is that it can really help one get focused on their passions and the things they really want out of life- and few things are more important than that.

Sure you can reduce the book down to its simplest form of "make a list of your passions". But then again, weight loss can be reduced down to "eat less and exercise more" as well. Yes, that's a simple and effective solution, but I doubt most people will be successful with just that simple piece of advice alone. And THAT'S the real value of the book- it provides guidance on how to have a fulfilling life using a very simple idea.

Get this book if you feel like something's not quite right in your life and you need a change of direction- the book will help. If you need further help on setting goals that can lead to happiness, give Finding Happiness in a Frustrating World a look see. Remember, you can't get what you want until you know WHAT you want. G-luck.

The older I get the more I think that passion, finding your place and following your dreams are more important -- heck not just important, central, essential, part of our being. I first read this book about a few years ago, it had a big impact on my life. I recently reread it again -- there is a lot in this book. I think that every decision in life should be put to the passion test. Is my heart in this? Am I excited about this? The passion test is about living your dreams and how to make it all come to pass. This book is great, if you ignite one of your dreams from it, you will have paid for it a dozen times over. Can the book help you do that? Yes.
The deeper you know yourself, the more completely you are able to align with your personal destiny. The book talks a lot about intention, attention, dreams, passion, and pile of life stuff. It is entertaining, filled with practical insights, and inspiring. You will never know what will show up in your life. This book is one of those things.

I don't only recommend this book to my colleagues and friends - I buy it for them!! I have two copies, one that is mine that I reference regularly through my career transitions (I go through the exercises once a year as my life is constantly shifting and it helps me stay focused on my goals and aspirations), and the other I lend to friends for a week. If they like it, when they return it to me, I have a brand new one waiting for them as a gift. The investment has paid off just to see the people around me fulfilling their passions, which is so inspirational to be around. I have never had anyone say anything different than, 'this book is amazing!' Each person I know that has gone through the Passion Test would agree that it has a perfectly simple recipe with a step by step process which has deemed the book to be 'Life Changing' and I definitely agree. One friend of mine that is on the go is really appreciating his e-copy so he can easily 'pick up the book' anytime he finds time. I personally like my hard copy with all its stickies and tags. Whatever works for your lifestyle, the options are there. All the best, and enjoy your 'Life Changing' experience!
