I installed this RAM for use in conjunction with an AMD5800 on an X570 motherboard. When I installed the ram it ran at 2666 instead of 3200.
That's perfectly normal.
I went into my BIOS to enable DOCP (the equivalent of XMP for Intel users).
When I selected the memory's profile the computer wouldn't boot. It gave a black screen only. The only way to start the computer up after that was to clear the CMOS and start from scratch.
I ran memtest, no errors.
Instead, I had to go through a series of reboots, manually set the ram speed to 2400, reboot, then manually set to 2800, then 3000, then 3200 with reboots in between and manually setting the voltage higher in increments... Until eventually it worked!!! Huzzah.
I was getting full speed ram and everything seemed ok.
Unfortunately, about a week in to my new found "working as expected ram" I came in to discover the machine had shit down in the middle of the night (& ruining an overnight-video conversation task)
Back to black screen... Had to manually clear CMOS again to get back in to the computer.
This was just days before the expiration of my return window. Rather than be saddled with incompatible RAM for the lifetime of a brand new computer I had to return this ram and buy a different product.
The new stuff worked first time without batting an eyelash.
Before you buy this RAM check your CPU's QVL document (qualified vendor list). I didn't see this make and model of ram on the AMD 3000/5000 series QVL guide and for me, it would have led to years of headaches and potentially both lost work and ill timed shutdowns.
Beware. I don't know if this stuff works well with Intel or on certain motherboards, but for me it didn't.
On the good side, it has a nice low profile and looks gorgeous if you're going for a black aesthetic design.
I just wish it worked! A fashionable brick doesn't do me any good. I'd much rather have a computer that works.
