It's not easy finding boards with the original Kailh "Choc" low-profile switches, which are generally considered superior to the "clones" companies like Gateron started producing when this style of switch became popular. The only other readily-available "Choc" board I know of is Logitech's G815, which is priced 2–3x higher than it should be, IMHO. (Amazon, please don't block my review just because I said that, LOL)
The keys' 1.2 mm travel length means this board is FAST, whether you're using it for typing or gaming. Yet somehow, in that very small space, Kailh included a definite tactile "bump", which most of us consider a good feeling when typing. (The full-height tactile Cherry MX Brown, is the most popular switch of all.)
The board itself is very well made. It's exceptionally thin—the body is even lower than the low keys on it! But it's surprisingly solid, thanks to the steel plate just below the upper surface (see edge photo here), which also makes this rather wispy-looking board a healthy 1.25 lbs (570 g). Once you place it on your desk, it's not going anywhere.
It's also one of the quieter MKs I've used—so unless you're sharing a cubicle with someone, it'd be fine for the office too, and easy to take here and there.
The subtle backlighting, shining around the opaque keys and through their legends, is very attractive, and many lighting effects are possible through the key combinations listed in the booklet. (I like a nice steady blue myself, but I'm probably just being boring.)
My only disappointment was finding that, unlike the board's other wider keys, the stabilizer in the Enter key wasn't connected to the board (see last photo). Was this an oversight? Fortunately, the Choc switch's wider shape makes this hardly noticeable when typing, but I can't help wondering why it's like that.
For the price, this is an excellent deal in a high-quality, low-profile mechanical keyboard. Recommended!
