Impressive frying, super hard to clean.
Numbers on dial comes off sooner than you think. Smoke comes out like crazy. Have to use it under the hood fan. First few times of usage was very impressive. After then, you’ll realize it’s super hard to clean the top of inside where all the grease sticks and burn. The non-stick basket wore off after the first half year of using. Expensive to get replacement.

This is a terrific machine if you want to eat healthier and avoid fried food saturated in oil. I find myself using it more all the time as it cooks so rapidly and makes food nice and crispy on the outside with only a fine mist of oil. I eat a plant-based diet and also ordered a vegan air fryer recipe book that includes easy and tasty recipes! I think it's well worth getting this larger size machine even if you're cooking for one or two. I highly recommend!

Excellent product- exceeds my expectations
Reviewed in the United States on March 15, 2019Colour Name: BlackVerified Purchase
TLDR: Don't expect "fried" foods, but it beats easily beats an oven for crispy foods either from scratch or from the freezer section of the megamart. Pricey, but high quality from a reputable company. Big enough for a family of 6. Easy to use and easy to clean.
Full review:
Night one, we tried an assortment of frozen convenience foods- french fries, chicken nuggets, cheese sticks, poppers, and taquitos. Some were just slightly better than the oven, some (the fries especially) were better than the oven, and the taquitos, which came out perfect, beat their fried version, giving all the crunch but zero grease.
The next morning, we tried cinnamon-sugar dusted canned biscuit donuts. My kids were in heaven. They didn't even notice that I used Splenda instead of sugar, saving carbs and calories. Yum.
Since then, we've baked a cake, made homemade citrus-rosemary chicken breast, roasted Brussel Sprouts (pictured with a Sous Vide sirloin,) buffalo wings, and puff pastry chocolate pockets. All were excellent.
The XXL is reasonably quiet, considering the internal fan- roughly equivalent to a microwave from the 1990s. The controls are simple to use and, being analog, shouldn't fail on us (an issue for those machines with digital touch screens, or so I am told) and the non-stick surfaces are easy to clean.
In short, it works like a dream- but, according to the reviews, so do many less expensive models from other manufacturers. So one question remains: is Phillips really worth the price tag?
I spent a year researching before buying. I'm that kind of person. My wife and I teach public school in red states and we've got four growing kids, so budget matters in my house. The Phillips won be over based on build quality and support options.
If you look at any Phillips model side by side with the other brands in most stores, you can see and feel the difference. The basket, the base, heck, even the plastic just feel better.
And when you read the reviews, it seems as if other brands have a high number of lemons plus poor customer service. Many people rave about other brands, but those who run into issues frequently complain that repairs and replacements can be difficult or downright impossible.
I know for a fact that Phillips does repair and replace. In fact, I have done business with one of their authorized repair centers in the past when I bought a refurbished espresso machine. Sure, I could have gambled with a cheaper brand and hoped I got one of the good ones. I probably would have been OK. But with the Phillips, I trust my investment. Plus, it helps that Amazon is letting me spread the cost out over 12 months interest free on my Prime card, easing the strain on my wallet.
I have no regrets at this stage of the game. I am hoping this machine will last my family for years to come.

A healthy delicious way to "fry"
Reviewed in the United States on May 31, 2018Colour Name: BlackVerified Purchase
This does not shorten cook times so be aware of that. It is just a healthy alternative cooking method and I think it was worth the money. Be cautious of potatoes and sweet potatoes because they can be cooked perfectly but if you leave them in there that heat still circulates and cooks them and when you pull them out perfect potatoes from 10 minutes ago are not so perfect, so empty your basket right away. We have been successful with potato wedges, buttermilk chicken wings, pork chops, and squash chips... also be careful of recipes requesting flour. Potato starch works better in this machine, but season the flour or starch rather than your meat directly, if you did not marinate your meat. Good luck to all.
--Feb 25, 2020 Update
Be prepared for smoke when air-frying meat. We learned to move the unit outside for the 23 minutes it takes to cook a batch of chicken wings. It's light and easy to move. Be sure it cools completely before attempting to bring it back in for cleaning.
I still give it 5 stars BUT after just 2 months ALL of the numbers have just rubbed off of our timer's dial. Oil builds up on it from the cooking process so, when I wiped it clean, the numbers eventually disappeared.
I ordered this one because I thought it would be easier for my oldest to make a snack than to have to program the newer digital model. If this unit ever breaks, I'm upgrading to something with digital features. I used a white out pen to rewrite the numbers on and seal with clear nail polish. Just as temporary.
Our air fryer gets a lot of love. I am still pleased with the cooking times and results. I am always amazed at the amount of fat that drips from the meat but still give crispy and juicy results. It took quite a few attempts before we achieved "crispy" air fried meat. (BTW, For crispy breadless chicken wings, add 1 tsp of baking powder to your seasoning!)
Because of the numbers fading away, I wouldn't get this model again or recommend it, BUT stick with Philips and go for the model with the digital features. They nailed the cooking.

Works great, and lots of space - but beware liners.
Reviewed in the United States on January 1, 2024Colour Name: BlackVerified Purchase
This air fryer is simple, effective, and large. I completely love it. Only thing to note is that I bought some XXL liners that are supposed to fit in this and they will constantly fly up and get burned. This is no fault of the machine but just be aware that you may be better off just using the smallest liner possible so it doesn't fly around, or at least getting the type that is flat without sides to reduce the risk. I haven't had issues even though this has happened repeatedly, but it is technically a fire hazard. If I am putting in something really small I just cut them down to size so they can't be flying all around. If you don't do large batches of food you may be better off with a smaller machine to avoid this problem.
