I am a big fan of Chrimson Catch:Game Time Series--the story of how Collin and his girlfriend Jo became a couple. Collin's little brother Brock just made a brief appearance walking through the living room as I recall.
I did not expect "Play on the Field" to take me in as much as it did. Here, the reader explores Brock's story and his girlfriend Tatum. (SPOILER ALERT) At first, I was not interested in buying it as Tatum seemed too young to already have a baby. I really was not clear at what age the baby was conceived but for some reason it was a turn-off.
I went ahead and bought it. I loved how Brock turned out to be more than just a obnoxious little brother. He came off as a very protective and loving young man who faced insecurities in the face. As another reviewer said, he is VERY protective of Tatum and the team supports her and includes the young lady as a member of their team.
Her own home town turns out to be hypocritical dregs and show it in spades when the two teams first play each other. Her new team and the town are everything her former home was not. They support her and even all the team (one young man holds out until the end) protect her. I really admired Tatum. I really was overwhelmed with what a sensitive, compassionate young man Brock turns out to be.
I would really encourage you to read the first book Chrimson Catch in the series to connect better with the older brother Collin Atwood and Jo before reading this one. I think it will really help the reader to relate to the character dynamics and appreciate this story more.
A real page turner.

Little brother Brock shines as well as his older brother CollinReviewed in the United States on February 1, 2018
A great finish to this seriesReviewed in the United States on October 20, 2020
To fully enjoy this book you should read book 1 and 2. I loved how past characters were still in this book. I liked how the parents were portrayed in this book. It seemed realistic. With this whole series it shows that high school can be hard to deal with. Kids will make bad decisions but they will learn and grow from the experience. I'm making this seem boring and its definitely not. Very enjoyable read especially since I live in Alabama. My only regret is I took so long to read it. I reccomend this book to anyone that enjoys reading.
