This works ok. I owned the older model and it was an Elite as well but an Oval shape not boxy like this one. I found the Oval one held three times as many diapers then this one and I think it's because of the way the bottom is set up in this one you actually lose a lot of space due to the way the front portion opens up. I used to get one big bag out of the Oval shape one and now I get 3 smaller bags out of this boxed shape one which is equivalent to one big bag in the oval ones. So I think this design is much worse than the other design.

This is an upgrade from the previous version which we liked, we had the previous Playtex Diaper Genie with our first kid and got 2 1/2 years out of it, it was kinda goofy as it folded in half to remove the bag which was clumsy being that your had a full bag and half a container to work with (when it was folded to remove) this totally redesigned version if much better designed.

If you are like me and not convinced you need a diaper can and are thinking of just making due with regular trash, i had this exact discussion with my wife before having out first kid, and she overruled me and ordered it. fast forward a few months and you could not imagine how many diapers these kids go through and the Diaper Genie is an absolute must unless you like you house reeking with the sweet stench of baby poop..

I love that these are available in different colours to match nurseries now (I already had a white one from our first child but couldn't resist the pink one when we were getting ready for our second as they weren't available in other colours aside from white with our first). My only complaint is that the newer model is slightly smaller than the Diaper Genie Elite system, which will be fine when our baby is in the smaller sized diapers but I can see it getting annoying as she grows and we can fit even less diapers, as I found even the older, larger model filled up quickly once our daughter was in size 3s-4s. Other than that, it does what it's supposed to, it keeps the stink out and saves me a trip to the garbage bin every diaper change. Overall happy with this purchase. I should also add that the newer model is SO much easier to put together than the older one.

Great diaper pail and gets my recommendation!

In line with other brands the Playtex diaper genie comes with some air fresheners that you can stick onto the inside lid.
Haven't found the need for it myself but was a nice surprise. The design of the pail is great and keeps the smell contained without the need to do any spinning after a diaper is dropped into it (quite a clever mechanism actually). One foot operation is a godsend when hands are full trying to balance a baby and ensuring poop doesn't get everywhere. The mechanism has been upgraded it seem. If you're in the market for one of these... this is a no-brainer purchase.

So easy to set up and use, I love it. Keeps our nursery smelling fresh and clean. It makes life a lot easier too because you can easily dispose of diapers and when it come time to switch the bags it only takes a matter of seconds to do so. Great design and overall product, I couldn't recommend this more to any new parents.

I have two kids, a toddler and a special needs 5yr old (obviously not potty trained). While this diaper genie does help with the odor of the used ones, I think it has as much to do with me taking it out more frequently as much as anything. My older guy wears Pampers Under jams (size S) and we have a hard time getting them to fall through the opening. I also take it out every other day now instead of every 3rd day because the capacity isn't as big as the can I was using before. Overall, I can't say it's a big improvement to the small trash can I had before.

I do not know if it's the filters, the bags or the pail itself, but the pail does not keep all the odours inside. If there is no poop :) it does a great job! We ended up using an external bag for it, so the room does not smell!
