I should also make it clear that I've only watched the first disk, and the criticisms that follows may not apply to the other two. Never found the second or third as epic or touching as the first so didn't feel the need to revisit them.
- Contrary to the product description, the only language is English, and there are no subtitles. Have no idea why they put language as Japanese as it's nowhere to be seen.
- It is a very barebone product. In fact on the menu there are only two options: play, and scene selection. No options for subtitles as none exists, and no special features which I found slightly disappointing.
- While it is now on bluray, this remastering is only partial. Many scenes, perhaps due to technical difficulties, remain rather low res.
At the end of the day, it all depends on what this series and the movies included really mean to you, and this is subjective. For me, the first movie alone justified buying it, even though I didn't like the second or third that much.
Quality is ok. You can tell in a few scenes (of the first movie) that the line art isnt/wasnt of good quality. For instance a character's line work has gaps in it.
Lost 1 star for the 2.0 audio while the DVD's had 5.1 surround... No idea why this is, especially as the 3-pack blu-ray set in Australia has 5.1 audio for the first two films at least. Also, the pikachu shorts aren't included, which is a total nostalgic bummer.
But for anyone who missed out on the DVDs which now sell for hundreds of dollars, and/or have waited for the widescreen release (finally), I say pick this up now as it will probably go out of print in a couple months.
Was super excited to see there was art on the disks as well. This was a gift for my boyfriend who is a die hard Pokemon fan, he was very happy.
Definitely recommend this to fellow fans!
However there are no Special Features, and the Pikachu shorts that would play before the movies are not included.

Would have given it 5 stars if it had come with the shorts before the movies and language/subtitle options. Still great moviesPublished 3 months ago by Amazon Customer
