While celebrities endorse a given health fad of the moment, and the espoused Paleo eating is not exactly what our ancestors would have been eating in the Paleolithic era, the book is beneficial nonetheless.

It suggests eating unprocessed foods, in as close to their natural state as possible. It demonstrates why the suggested dietary guidelines published by the government is not exactly the best way to go about eating, even if they have good intentions.

I don't necessarily agree with everything contained, but the information is good to have, to decide what you personally want to include or exclude from your own diet.
It includes around a hundred Paleo-friendly recipes and had a 30-day meal plan.

The book is large print, over 400 pages, and printed on high gloss paper of decent weight. The binding is decently durable and the product will last a while.

Worth taking a look at.

For years, I have fought and lost the battle of the bulge. On my own, before this book, I went from 220lbs to 190lbs, by running, and counting calories. I teetered between 180-190 without change for years, until I found this book. I bought it and my husband actually picked it up and started making some of the recipes & reading parts of it out loud every time he realized all the things we've been told about food were wrong!
Since December 31st, he has lost nearly 20lbs and I have lost 21. I've started lifting weights, and I can now run 5K in 23 minutes. I'm stronger, happier, and I feel SO good all day long. Gone are those starving, depravity moments, gone are the sugar crashes, and gone are the late afternoon groggies.
Diane - we owe you so much for this amazingly laid-out book. You really did such a wonderful job creating this masterpiece, and you're changing many live for the better. Thank you so much for this gift.

If I could only choose one paleo book, it would be this one. As far as learning about the paleo diet, how the body works and how certain foods work in your body, this is hands down the best. It has pictures and its to the point. I didn't give it 5 stats because I have other paleo cookbooks with better recipes. Although there are some awesome recipes in this cookbook, the dessert section isn't the best. Not that big of a deal because the Paleo diet shouldn't be focused around that section anyways.

I would recommend this book to anyone on the diet looking for recipes and more information. If you are stating out fresh on paleo, GET THIS BOOK!

I bought the book based on the positive reviews I had read for it and I was a bit waffly but thought, 'hey, it will at least give me some ideas and a couple good receipes I am sure'. I hardly ever review anything, but I just had to for this book.

It's incredible. Every single thing we have made tastes really good! We did the "Squeaky Clean Paleo" meal plan she laid out for nearly three weeks now, and everything has tasted great, even the things I was unsure about. She knows her stuff, everything pairs nicely and I can't believe how happy we are with the food.

The information at the front of the book is beautifully laid out and easy to read, without being too "dumbed down". It's the best Paleo reference I have ever seen and full of whole food recipes that will change your mind about healthy eating tasting bland or boring! So delicious.

This book is a great addition to any Paleo cookbook library with the added bonus of an easy to read primer on the benefits of a grain, sugar, bean and dairy free whole food diet. Yet another bonus are the 30 day meal plans and specific recommendations for people suffering from a variety of conditions....not necessarily a cure but possibly a way to help your body fight the good fight and maybe even win! Great job!

This is an incredible resource. I am so impressed with the lengthy recipes section - not only is it beautifully photographed and nicely formatted, but I want to try every one of them. It includes as many recipes as some of the other paleo cookbooks out there, plus loads of advice on nutrition and improving digestion, so good bang for your buck.

I bought this book expecting some simple, easy to prepare recipes that would help a non-cook like myself adapt to a paleo diet and lifestyle. What I received was so much more. I have read many books on nutrition and health in the last few years, and none have been as clear and understandable as Practical Paleo. The section on meal planning especially cleared up a lot of misconceptions about what is beneficial even on a Paleo diet - ie. it's not a cookie-cutter, one size fits all approach - people with different conditions (ex. digestive problems, neurological problems, weight problems, blood sugar problems etc.) may need to adapt their Paleo diet and restrict certain foods at least during the healing phase. And the author gives very clear guidelines for each. I couldn't recommend this book enough. The wealth of material, the organization and layout of the book, the writing style, and the obvious hard work and compassion that went into its creation, FAR exceeded my expectations. And yes, it has incredible recipes - not as easy as driving to a fast food restaurant, but I look forward to learning and developing some solid cooking skills and sharing some incredible dishes with friends and family.
