Product Description

Jack "Preacher" Prior is at a crossroads -- literally. Left for dead in the Badlands, he's managed to survive. He's stolen a truck, but where can he go? Body broken, mind reeling from betrayal from his own MC brothers, he knows he won't last a day back in Rapid City in his current condition.

Two roads stretch out in front of him. One leads to the city and one deep into the black hills where no one knows him as the former President of the Badlands Buzzards. Revenge is not a question; it's an absolute. Preacher will get his due soon enough or die trying.

Erin Walker is at a crossroads of her own. Dealt a bad hand by being the daughter of Buck Walker, ex-Rodeo Champ, she's made her own way in the world without his help. She owns Thunder Ridge Ranch outright, and she's carved out a piece of paradise for herself with her own two hands. She's not giving it up without a fight, but she's alone in the world with no one to trust.

In Erin, Preacher finds something that doesn't exist in his own world: a smart, fierce independent woman who sets his blood on fire. For Erin, the mysterious man who threatens her life might very well be the only one who can save it.

Can Preacher put aside his desire for revenge against his old MC and accept what's in front of him: a woman who needs him and a future worth having? Erin knows in her heart that Preacher is a bad, dangerous man, but can she trust him anyway?

Not every choice is theirs to make, though, and in Rapid City the past never stays buried.

I picked this up for free and found it so good that I devoured it in one sitting.
First let me say that while I have read quite a few MC romances, I have done so for the romance, not because I find the MC lifestyle romantic. And anyway, to me most books in this genre feel like the fiction they are because they tend to gloss over the ugly parts, only offering fluffy, highly romanticized versions of biker life. In reality I doubt there is anything either glamorous or appealing about a violent, dog-eat-dog existence, where everything is a power play, and women are treated as second class citizens (at best).... My point is, usually when reading one of these novels I have to suspend my disbelief, only enjoying the romance, but with this book not so much. While I am no expert, this book felt like a realistic portrayal of the gritty, dark and very violent life of a hardcore biker, and I found it refreshing, albeit disturbing.
The hero, Jack "Preacher" Prior is not a good man, heck he isn't even a likeable man most of the time. Having grown up in the life, being a biker and a criminal was all he knew, and all he intended to be. This was not a misunderstood, alpha male who secretly had a heart of gold, and who lived as an outlaw, but was really a good guy. No, Jack was a violent and ruthless MC president at the top of his game, and made no excuses for it. He had little respect for anyone but his MC brothers, certainly not women who he had no use for beyond sex. But things change when his MC brothers betray him, taking over his club and leaving him broken and near death, with nowhere to turn. Jack meets a woman unlike any he has ever known, one he actually respects and comes to want desperately, but knows he does not deserve. He begins to long for a life he never imagined .....

This story of Dahlia West's is hard to write a review for without giving away to much of the story ,but I will tell you this is a 5 star read with components of betrayal. revenge, redemption and so much more, and it also has a man with ice water in his veins sometimes at first and then he seems to change his attitude. I was so engrossed in this story that I just couldn't put this book down until I find out what was going to become of preacher. Then Erin and him get together ,they both come from different backgrounds and have different values ,but fate bring them together. But they both have somethings they need to work out. I totally liked how their treat each other and the author make's you feel their connection with each other. You will find many of Ms West's previous characters appear in this book from other books which make's this amazing story because you get to see characters you have already read about and you get to see what has became of them too, which to me make's the story exciting . I could go on and tell you more about this amazing story , but that would spoil the story for you. I highly recommend you read this amazing story ,because you won't be disappointed.

I was thrilled to win an ARC of Preacher and I have to say, this book does not disappoint. I think it's my favourite Dahlia West book so far. It drew me in right from the start. I loved Jack and I loved Erin for Jack. I rooted for them both through to the final page. I was really sorry to reach the end. Another winner!
