Two short months before graduating high school, Kendall Jones’ world is ripped apart at the seams. A stranger rescues her from a near brutal attack, but is unable to save her parents from death. Eight years later, Kendall moves to New York, hoping to put her past behind her, and once again finds herself in need of rescue.

Tristan Price saves the life of a young woman, who then haunts his dreams for eight long years. When she literally falls at his feet, Tristan decides that he will protect her, no matter what the cost. When her past comes back to threaten her, his plan to keep her close could cost his heart.

Can Tristan save Kendall a second time, and at what cost? Can the price of love overshadow the darkness of her past?

Although this book is part of a series, it can be read as a Standalone and has a HEA.

It was just over a week ago that I offered my services to fellow debut Author, Cassy Roop. I would receive a copy of her novel ‘The Price of Love’, in exchange for my review. Although it has taken me several days to write my review, it took me less than 24 hours to read it. I became enthralled with the lives of Kendall and Tristan. So much so, I was scarcely able to separate myself from my tablet for any length of time.

When Kendall Jones was merely 18 years of age, an incomprehensible tragedy occurs that would forever impact her future. Over the next eights years with the love and support of her best friend Cassie, Kendall finishes Secondary School and obtains a degree in Journalism while Cassie majors in Photography. Eventually, they end up as roommates in New York and working for the same Magazine, but each in their specialized fields.

CEO Tristan Price is branching out his million dollar empire to include luxury hotels. He approaches Lively magazine with an opportunity too good to pass up. He needs a journalist to stay in each of his five new luxury hotels for a certain period of time and then write an article on the experience of each hotel over the next five months. In exchange, Millionaire CEO agrees to a never before given, exclusive interview for the magazine. The catch, the Journalist must be Kendall Jones and the Photographer, her best friend Cassie.

Unbeknownst to Kendall, Tristan's objective is not to create positive publicity for his hotels, but rather a deep concern for Kendall's safety. Tristan has become privy to information that will detrimentally affect Kendall's future wellbeing.

Typically I prefer books which are realistic, and this one is not, however.....I quite liked it! Great characters, solid story line, kept my interest throughout. Sappy and a bit predictable, but worth the read.

Ouch. I hate to give any negative feedback, but in all honesty, I struggled with this one. At first it was because it mimicked the Crossfire least to me. There were some differences, and those became a little more apparent as I read along, but still quite a bit was similar too.

The prologue was actually a good segue into the story, with Kendall as a teenager in high school when her parents get murdered by an abusive ex-boyfriend. The ex ends up in prison which allows her the freedom to graduate high school, attend college, and begin her career. She moves to New York and is working for a magazine company when a chance encounter with a handsome stranger on her way to work introduces us to Tristan Price. Tristan is not only gorgeous, he is a billionaire. He also happens to own the building her magazine is based out of, and is on his way to meet with her boss regarding a deal to grant an interview in exchange for the magazine featuring each of his new hotels over a 6 month period. And....he wants Kendall to write the stories. The catch? He isn't a complete stranger...he knows Kendall and her past with Brett, the abusive ex. Half in love with her, but determined not to get involved due to his involvement in her past, he hires her to write the features to get her out of town after learning Brett will be released from prison early. Despite his good intentions, he and she do get involved, but complicated. He keeps secrets from her, including the fact that he and she have met in the past. Brett gets out of prison and is determined to get her back.

The book had the potential to be really good, but my issue is there were quite a few errors in the book. For some reason, the word "was" was often written "as". The "w" got dropped a lot. Then there was the changing names. At one point Kendall is at a club after one of Tristan's "cold" spells. Before they finally get involved, he waffles between taking that step and keeping it strictly business. Hot / cold, hot / cold. She finally decides to go out and enjoy a girls' night with her friend Cassie and is dancing with a guy who the author introduced as "Mark", but who later became "Matt". Then toward the end, Tristan became Tristan "Stone" vs. "Price". And this happened more than once. Then there was the use of the word "glaring" when I would have expected "staring" or some other word. When someone glares, I expect it is not because they are happy or surprised or mesmerized, and yet the author used it in this context a couple of times. As a reader, I don't expect a lot of grammatical or spelling errors, but can live with a few if I do come across them. However, when there are more than a few, it is distracting and detracts from the story.

Outside of the similarities to the Crossfire series and if you read the series, I'm sure you are going to see what I am referring to, I did like a lot of the characters. I loved Tristan and the fact that he wanted to protect her because he felt he didn't help her when she was younger. Cassie and Jackson were great. Everyone needs best friends they can rely on, even when that gets them into hot water. Loved to hate Brett, what a jerk. A word of warning, the book does have some darker points (beatings, rape, murder), but luckily not in any great detail. There is also sexual content so I wouldn't recommend the book to anyone under 18.

Imagine the guy you trust turning violent on you, stalking you and forcing himself on you. A high school relationship that was so terrifying that Kendall and her family moved just to escape after a strangest saves her from another attack. Only moving doesn't help. Kendal's world was completely shattered when her crazy ex found her family and killed her parents. Justice was not served with Brett only getting charged with manslaughter by claiming self defense.

Eight years after her parents murder, Kendall is living and working in New York with her best friend Cassie.

A "chance" encounter with a gorgeous man on her way to work has her feeling things she hasn't felt in over 8 years. When she looked in his eyes, she felt like she knew this stranger. Flustered and running late to work Kendall finds out she has a very important meeting she needs to attend with her boss. Imagine her surprise when she walks in and looks into the eyes of the famous CEO of Cashman Enterprises, Tristan Price. The same man she encountered on the way to work.

Tristan's meeting Kendall wasn't just a coincidence. He has been watching over her for the past 8 years making sure his crazy half brother couldn't harm her again. He'd saved her once, but couldn't save her parents. He had to keep her safe knowing Brett was soon to be released from prison. Tristan was drawn to Kendall, but feared if she knew who he really was then she would hate him.

After getting Kendall to work with him where he could keep her safe, there was no denying their feelings for each other and they fell in love.

In the meantime, Brett has been stalking and keeping tabs on Kendall. In his crazy mind she was still his and would stop at nothing to have her.

You have got to read this book to find out what happens when Brett gets out of prison. Will Tristan and Kendall find their love, or will the crazy brother rip it all away?

WOW! I really loved this book!! It’s action packed, funny and HOT!!! The chemistry is off the charts!

Kendall has had a strangely difficult life. She had a crazy stalker at age 16 that terrified her and her parents and her parents didn’t even know everything. By the time she was almost ready to graduate high school, he had managed to make her family move twice. But that would be the least of what he takes from her…..quite literally - everything.

Tristan is amazing! Really completely amazing! He owns damn near everything, hotels, apartments, restaurants, just to name a few. So, yes he’s famously rich and he’s of course extremely handsome. But the thing he has that’s just one step past awesome - he’s loved Kendall since before he became all these things. He’s silently watched out for her for 8 years. It’s time to make his move.

He gets her to work on a project for his company. He has to get her to agree because he just found out her past is being released from prison….very early! In order to keep her safe he’s going to country hop with her to all his new hotels that are opening. The problems that arise mainly stem from the big secret he keeps from her. And it’s HUGE! Major!!! Will she be able to get past this and still love him? Can he be patient and wait for her?

Now that he’s in jail, she’s managed to graduate high school & college and move to NYC with her best friend to start their careers at the same company. She lands a huge opportunity to work with none other than Tristan Price, but she has mixed feelings. For one, she feels like she knows him? But from where? She just can’t put her finger on it. But she realizes that she can’t live in the past and she goes for it. Will she fall in love with her mystery man? Will she finally learn she can open up and trust a man?

I love both POV’s!! Love reading about what’s going on in the guys head. It adds so much depth and understanding to the story. This was a really amazingly well written book. It’s really HOT but has such a story to it. A love story!! Highly recommend!!

I didn't want this book to end!!
When Kendall Jones was 15, a terrible thing happened to her and she never thought she would be able to get away from the person that did it to her. Two years later, she was finally feeling free when her world came crashing down again and this broke her. She would never be the same again...
Eight years later... Kendall and her best friend, Cassie, have moved to New York and work for a magazine. Life seems to be going well. She still has moments that bring her back to the past, but she is living life and moving forward.

She ends up getting an assignment to help multi-billionaire, Tristan Price. Not only is the amazing for her job, but he is easy on the eyes and she can't look away. But also, there is something about him that shes feels familiar about.
"Something about his eyes though seemed so familiar. It was as if we had met somewhere before. I shook the thought away as quickly as I thought it. There is no way I could forget anyhting about meeting this man."

Tristan has a secret. He doesn't know how to tell her. She will hate him for it. Would she ever forgive him? Could she look past it?
"I could look at her for a thousand lifetimes and never grow tired."

Tristan wasn't hiding his attraction to Kendall.
"Being in the same room with Tristan Price was intimidating. Especially with the way he kept looking at me like he was starving and I was his next meal."

It didn't take long for Kendall to realize that this man was about to change her mind about men all together. She hasn't let anyone really near her since that awful boy 10 years prior. Tristan might just be the exception to the rule.
"Something about Tristan, though, made me want to let go of that fear. He had been nothing but nice to me since we met. Could I let down my guard and trust this man?"

As their love grows, so does Tristan's anxiety to tell Kendall the truth. He is head over heels for her and vice versa. Can he take this jump?
"This girl had the power to shatter me into a million pieces and didn't even know it."

"I have never felt this way about a woman, Kendall. I am consumed by you."

This book gave me so many feels!! You feel so bad for Kendall and what she's had to go through, but you also want to hold Tristan. He is doing all that he can to keep her safe and sheltered, but he might just be the one thing that hurts her the most. Ahhhh!! Such a good story!! I can't wait for the next book!!

"Kendall, I could spend every single moment that I am breathing with you and t will never be enough. You have no clue what you do to me, Angel." SWOON!!

Kendall Jones survives an attack that ultimately leads to the death of her parents.
Eight years later and living in New York she is trying to put her past to rest.
Although still reluctant to allow herself to fall in love, she has put all her trust and confided in her best friend.
Tristan Price, successful businessman and saviour of a young girl eight years previously. Haunted by the memories of that day he decides he will always protect her at any cost, the realisation that he is in love with this young woman could cost him dearly.
Brett is dangerous, while laying claim to Kendall he believes she is his and only his. No one will stand in his way, not even her parents. He will have Kendall again.
Can Tristan save Kendall again at the risk of everything?

Give me a book full of romance and danger and I’m happy. Kendall and Tristan’s story had me hooked.
Although there were some connotations of Fifty Shades of Grey I was happy to overlook them due to this intriguing plotline.
From the start you kind of get the hint about who Tristan really is but that said it doesn’t spoil the mystery of the story. The story progresses easily without it being predictable.
Strong female characters are always a huge plus point for me and although Kendall is vulnerable her strength of character is evident. In the wonderful descriptive of her character the reader is able to empathise with her fears and yet we want her let down her guard and allow Tristan into her life.
Tristan’s character is equally easy to empathise with, his reluctance to divulge who he really is to Kendall is essential to this story and we feel his torment about lying to the one person he truly loves.
In addition to these two wonderful characters the surrounding characters add so much to this story. Each one essential in making it come to life, adding so much that it opens the story into an in depth page turner full of romance, fun and fear.
I devoured this book in a matter of hours, once I started I refused to put it down till I reached conclusion.
This is a wonderful romance with a darker side. I loved it.
