This is a mashup novel similar to Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. In this novel, gentlemen in Regency England have a monthly curse. They are changed by the moon into various animals, Mr Bennet is a lion, Mr Bingley is a tiger, Mr Wickham is a wolf and Mr Collins is a skunk. You can guess what Mr Darcy turns into by the title. The gentlemen have to be locked into cages while the moon is full.
It is far funnier than P&P&Z however. I found it all very entertaining and unlike other readers, had no problem reading to the end. I also found it amusing that the author manages to mention Mr Darcy in a wet shirt several times in the novel. I suspect that she enjoyed that particular scene from the tv series of Pride and Prejudice that Colin Firth starred in too.
There were a couple of loose ends not tied off e.g. who or what was the Monstrous Duck of Brighton that appears in several scenes? That was never properly explained. I also agree, that the ebook format is a bit frustrating as you need to wait until the end to look at the footnotes or otherwise lose your place in the story.
Will look out for her version of Northanger Abbey now.
