About this item

  • The 1" Aluminum dome tweeter, which is light, efficient, and rigid, provides high SPL (Sound Pressure Level) with minimal distortion and the sense of utter transparency. It deploys a Finite-Element-Analysis (FEA) optimized diffuser to ensure the tweeter only has the perfect on-axis and off-axis frequency response.
  • The 4.5" mid-range driver is dedicated to blending with the tweeter and the dual 6.5" woofers, while delivering natural, smooth, and clear vocals.
  • We built our groundbreaking new 6.5" bass woofers on an all-new cast ABS-fiberglass composite basket for precise component alignment and an inert frame without resonances or added harmonics.
  • Our exclusive SoundMatch crossover sports premium-grade capacitors, air-core inductors, and heavy-trace printed circuit boards. All of these high-quality components yield lower distortion, tighter tolerances, better heat dissipation, and all around better sound.

Prime Towers: Pillars of Performance - Stereo to Cinema

Delivering immersive, full-spectrum sound, the Prime Towers anchor an amazing listening experience. Their combination of both sonic accuracy and lively dynamics elevate movies to an immersive experience and the highlight the subtle nuances of your music. They are remarkable on their own in a two channel system, and in a home theater, the Towers’ voicing match and seamlessly meld with the other Prime or Ultra speakers in your system. The result: a suspension of reality that takes you to the center of the action be it a mosh pit or jet fighter cockpit. Dialogue and vocals are clear and true. Bass grooves and explosions will rock the room. With Prime towers’ twin 6.5 inch woofers in each tower, you don’t need a stand-alone subwoofer if space won’t allow (should you have the room and want the additional depth and dimension a dedicated subwoofer provides—Prime towers pair well with several SVS subwoofers, like the award-winning SB-2000).

FEA and CAD Optimized Cabinet

The precision machined front-baffle chamfers were carefully engineered to reduce tweeter diffraction artifacts, while the rest of the cabinet was designed to eliminate resonances for an honest, neutral and uncolored sound. Likewise, even the grill has been FEA optimized for maximum transparency.

1-inch Aluminum Dome & FEA-Optimized Diffuser

The light, efficient, and rigid 1-inch Aluminum dome tweeter provides high SPL, minimal distortion, and a sense of utter transparency. It deploys a FEA optimized diffuser to ensure only the perfect on-axis and off-axis frequency response. That way everyone in your listening room gets the best performance. Since we share these design traits with both the Prime and Ultra speakers, both product lines can blend perfectly while offering that SVS hallmark ‘airy’ presentation and incredibly unveiled highs.

Sophisticated Crossover Design

Our exclusive SoundMatch crossover sports premium-grade capacitors, air-core inductors, and heavy-trace printed circuit boards. All of these high-quality components yield lower distortion, tighter tolerances, better heat dissipation, and all around better sound. The innovative and sophisticated 3.5-way crossover is unique in that each woofer has its own discrete crossover, doubling the number of components used for the bass section, and allowing the woofers to work together without lobing in the vertical axis, which can cause cancellations at the listening area, and instead improves radiated sound power.

Trickle Down Theory In Action – SVS Ultra Sound At A Prime Price

Borrowing heavily from the Ultra line, the Prime Bookshelf is packed with high-end technology and premium quality drivers, setting a new high-water mark for sound quality and performance value at this price point.

The crossover is the key to any great bookshelf, and our exclusive SoundMatch network is packed with quality components and exhaustive refinement for outstanding phase coherency and time domain behavior. The transition between tweeter and woofer is so smooth and seamless you’ll swear it sounds like a single full-range drive.

The front baffle of the cabinet is chamfered and the drivers are flush-mounted to reduce edge diffraction for a smooth high-end and outstanding imaging. Inside the FEA and CAD optimized cabinet is braced to eliminate resonances for an honest, neutral and uncolored midrange.

Product description

SVS Sweats The Details – You Hear Perfect Sound

With a smooth aluminum dome tweeter, dedicated midrange driver and dual long–throw woofers, the Prime Tower effortlessly cranks out clean, dynamic and powerful sound. The innovative and sophisticated 3.5–way crossover has different crossover points for each woofer to eliminate lobing in the vertical axis and improve total radiated sound power. Translation – awesome bass response and a smooth, seamless transition to the midrange.

SVS took the 3.5–way crossover concept a step further – each woofer has a dedicated and completely separate internal compartment with its own custom port tuning frequency. The result is bass you need to hear in person to fully appreciate. Similarly, the 4.5" midrange driver is mounted in its own dedicated and completely sealed compartment to ensure a smooth, precise and clear midrange free from standing wave coloration.

Driver and Crossover Details
  • The 1" aluminum dome tweeter utilizes an FEA–optimized diffuser which delivers a very open 'airy' presentation and extremely unveiled highs.
  • The dedicated 4.5" midrange driver delivers natural, smooth and clear vocals and features a polypropylene cone, an aluminum shorting ring for reduced distortion, a vented voice coil former, and unique all–new cast ABS–fiberglass–carbon composite basket for precise component alignment.
  • Dual 6.5" woofers outclass the competition and deliver hard–driving bass courtesy of a long–stroke suspension and rugged motor, a polypropylene cone, an aluminum shorting ring for reduced distortion, a vented voice coil former, and unique all–new cast ABS–fiberglass–carbon composite basket for precise component alignment.

5.0 out of 5 stars Blown Away!

I have only been listening to the Prime Tower speakers for a few days and I must say I am stunned! I did expect a decent level of sonic performance but I did not expect what I heard. So far I have been listening to piano, strings and vocals along with the requisite orchestral pieces. I am using an Oppo 203 transport as the source for both SACDs and CDs along with the Yamaha A-S801 integrated amp. The speakers are operating in my 12’ x 22’ audio room. So far I believe these speakers represent a fantastic value. On all material so far they disappear into the room and imaging, sound stage, and detail are superb! Get a pair!

5.0 out of 5 stars SVS Prime, una joya de bocinas
Reviewed in Mexico on July 25, 2017

Saludos

5.0 out of 5 stars My neighbors aren't pleased, but I sure am!

I'm almost upset with myself a little bit after purchasing these, because I now realize how much earlier in life I should have prioritized purchasing good stereo equipment. I never realized how much music was in the music I listened to until now.

One of the problems we run into in the current state of retail stores is that the listening room for equipment either no longer exists, or the options are limited to big box brands only like Polk, Klipsch, Bose, Pioneer, Sony, etc. At least this is the way it was for me. I would have had to spend a month waiting on local music stores to find demo pairs of what I wanted to hear.

It seems like the barrier for entry with speakers now is more based in research and not money that can be spent, as I couldn't have even discovered brands like HSU, SVS, and Bic without spending a week or two poking around audiophile circles on the internet.

When it came down to it, I was torn between Bic, HSU, Chane, and SVS. When I started googling around for people complaining about SVS speakers, I just couldn't find any rage from the internet. People speak highly of the quality for the cost, and very highly of the customer support staff.

I don't exactly have the best trained ear for an audiophile review, so take this with a grain of salt, but I can't find any problems with these speakers. I currently have the SB-2000 sub on order, which should arrive today, but the rest of the setup is a Modi-2 DAC to a Behringer A500 amp feeding two of these Prime towers; I'll probably pick up a preamp soon for the single volume switch. The bass produced by the towers themselves is formidable, however not enough to forgo a dedicated sub in a larger room. The highs are nice and mellow, as even the music I was scared to listen to (for the life of my ears) came through high and clear.

Right now these are packed into my tiny apartment as we wait out the two months until we can move into our house; This speaker and amp combination would easily get the police called if I put the amp anywhere past 50% volume.

If you have $1,000 to spend on a pair of speakers, this should be in your top 3 choices, if not just outright what you should buy.

I like their subwoofers, so I thought I'd give their floor standing speakers a try. Nothing special. I wish I'd bought new Klipsch speakers. Tweeters are muddy. No crispness at all. Mids are undefined, as for the woofers no low end at all. These are expensive for what they are. Klipsch are superior, Yamaha are better even Polk sound better. My receiver reads them as small. That should tell you all you need to know. Don't buy them.
