An Entertainment Weekly Top 10 Romance Author

Risking it all?

World-renowned gallery owner Rafe D'Angelo has firm boundaries for his romantic conquests and is notorious for leaving ladies wanting more. Which is why it's such a shock to wake and find—for the first time ever—the sheets beside him cold….

Nina Palitov's only act of defiance against a life lived under her father's oppressive control was to spend an exquisite night with Rafe. But Nina should have known that this D'Angelo relishes a challenge. His pursuit of her provokes a passion she's never experienced before, but with her family's deepest secret at risk, it's essential she doesn't become Rafe's latest prize!

HASH(0xa60ec138) out of 5 stars Ugh, one of the very few I just couldn't finish June 17 2014

This seemed to have the plot that I would normally go for - but there were several plot points that turned me off. First, one of the initial meetings between h and H is her working in his art gallery setting up an exhibit of her father's collection. The h is wearing a see through thin t-shirt with NO bra and prominent nipple exposure. Put that together with the fact that the heroine had several lovers in college (and she still keeps claiming to be inexperienced with the hero) and that just seemed trashy. I have read harlequins where the heroine has had previous lovers and they still seemed sweet and innocent, but not this heroine - she seemed emotionally vague (or vacant). I read about 1/2 of it and never connected with the heroine OR the hero - in fact, everything about them turned me off. I've read some bad harlequins but this is the only one that I found so distasteful that I couldn't finish.

Really predictable, flat, contrived and I was disappointed because I think Carole Mortimer is a great writer but not her best work.

I guess I expected more drama after the first book in the D'Angelo series. This book just didn't hold my interest.
