Product Description

Eight years after her fiancé was murdered, attorney Megan Kole has fully reconciled two areas of her life: her intelligent son, who never knew his father, and the thriving law practice that is her late father's legacy. The remainder of Megan's world stalled in a paralyzing grief that she effectively compartmentalized until a transfer to Seattle brings a handsome, mysterious billionaire into her life.

Daemon Ros has been an outcast since the day he was born. His parents’ lavish but emotionally-vacant lifestyle prompted him to assert his financial independence at a young age. His ailing brother is the only connection he allows to penetrate the vault he has built around his heart, until a devoted mom and her precocious son introduce him to the true meaning of family bonds.

But a chance legal encounter where Megan acts as mediator in a Ros family business dispute leads to far more than either expected. When a shocking truth leads to a love affair between Megan and Daemon that is forbidden in every conceivable way, the barely-restrained chemistry that scorches between them threatens an injunction on everything and everyone they hold dear. As pasts cross, memories threaten, and lies surface in a trial far more deadly than anything inside a courtroom, an arbitration of the heart could prove the only way for them both to make it out alive.

This is an emotionally fulfilling story. Rohman had me in tears more than once, but she also had me laughing and experiencing joys and successes alongside the characters. The plot was full of intrigue that kept me glued to the pages. The mystery and subtle suspense that winds its way throughout definitely had me hooked. Rohman doesn’t write with the typical style that you find in most romances, but this is a fantastic change of pace. I love how elusive things seem, yet the smallest tidbit of information also shines through in her seamless writing. There was definitely has the ‘holy smokes! I didn’t see that coming’ factor right from the get-go, a ‘holy cow! Could you just imagine’, if you will.

Rohman’s seamless writing allowed the story to shine through as she jumps right into the body of the story, with very little introduction. Readers get to know the characters as the story progresses. Her straightforward and inviting writing style that allows the characters’ emotions to shine through. I like that it’s written in the 1st person, and how the main characters think. It really gave me insight into who they are and what they want. She also allows the law/lawyers shine through without becoming overly technical and bogging down the story.

This novel is a fantastic addition to Rohman’s work. It was a blast to read, being both suspenseful and fun. I’d definitely recommend it to others.

Please note that I received a complimentary copy of this work in exchange for an honest review.

This was my first time reading anything by Rebecca Rohman and I must say that I thoroughly enjoyed this great story. Rebecca Rohman has given us a story filled with emotions that had me crying more then once and she also had me laughing out loud, and I experienced joys and even successes along side these amazing characters. This story totally sucks us in and holds us in it's pages from start to finish and will leave you wanting more from this author. The story was filled with intrigued and the mystery and the suspense had me on a roller coaster ride through out the story ,that will keep you on the edge of your seat waiting to fine out what is going to happen next. Rebecca Rohman has a writing style all of her own ,that makes and allows her story's to shine through carelessly and makes her story flow smoothly. We the readers get to really know her characters as the progress of her story plays out and the inviting way that her characters allow us to take part in their life's. The is Megan and Daemon's touching story. Megan has had heart wrenching in her life since her Fiance was killed 8years ago leaving her to raise their son Zach by herself with the help of her parents. Zach is who she lives for and she lives one day at a time. Megan is a brilliant mediator for her loving fathers law firm. And she has finally accepted being a single mother . And then there's Daemon Ros ,who's a self- made billionaire and he's has cold has an ice cube in business as he is in his personal life. He has ever experienced the love that a family usually gives, because he has be an outcast and has lived in Europe for most of his life. He only come to the U.S just to visit his brother Donovan (who the only one he really cares for ) .Read more ›

4.5 stars. Reviewed on behalf of A Book Lover's Emporium book blog

I have no idea where to begin with this review. I honestly loved this book and the rollercoaster ride of emotions it takes you on.

Megan Kole has experienced some heart wrenching losses in her life. Her fiancée was killed 8 years ago leaving her to raise their son, Zach, by herself with the support of her loving family. She lives for her son and just trudges through life one day at a time. She finally accepts her lot as a single mother and a brilliant mediator for her late fathers’ law firm. When asked to oversee the opening of their new office in Seattle, she doesn’t jump at the chance but reluctantly agrees to help her brother, Jonathan, out of a situation.

Daemon Ros is a self-made billionaire who is as cold in business as he is in his personal life. Having not experienced the love that a family can give him, he is an outcast and lives most of his life in Europe, only coming to the US to visit his brother, Donovan (the only person he truly gives a damn about).

Megan and Daemons’ first meeting is significant for both their hearts and their lives. This meeting brings about a series of events that neither of them anticipated and will endanger not just their own lives, but the lives of everyone they both care about. Is their love really worth the death of their families?

I adored this book and the way it was written. Both Megan and Daemon are complex characters with attributes that we can all relate to. I completely understand why they both fall for each other and why they want to protect one another. All I can say is poor Daemon. How much loss and agony can one guy stand? My heart ached for the man and what he uncovers and goes through.
