I purchased this book for my 13-year-old daughter, as she has decided that she would like to learn computer programming. Note, unschooling does pay off! The book is great! Even in its design. It is very comfortable to hold, easily staying open. Bjarne has presented everything in a such a nice way, for easy understanding, so it's off to learning we go...*)

Not very good for beginners. It's more like a dictionary. I strongly recommend BS's other book "programing: principle and practice" which I am using now and it has ton of exercise. C++ is just a tool and anyone can become master if one practices a lot. BTW, if u are using eclipse, dont forget to add "-std=c++11" under the environment variable setting. Have fun : )

Excellent book written by the author of the C++ programming language. Great introduction to programming, but might be a bit thick for a complete novice.
