Review

Unique, family-friendly projects. . . . Pick up a copy and you ll be DIY-ing in no time!

" Scholastic Parent & Child"

Can you believe these materials come together to make something so pretty and useful? It s like magic. Almost.

" Today s Parent"

This excursion into childhood s dream world . . . is not a typical kids craft book. . . . The emphasis is clearly on the home, but there are clear applications for classrooms, day care, and the enterprising babysitter needing to answer the I m bored whine. Hardly just a rainy-day project compendium, this is work to keep brains busy and families happy.

"Publishers Weekly," starred review

Endless fodder for creativity. . . . The inventive DIYs range from superhero capes created from dish towels to decoupage animal masks that would make John Derian proud.

"Lonny"

Rainy day life saver. . . . The step-by-step pictures make it pretty impossible to screw up these crafts.

HASH(0xa5a473c0) out of 5 stars Fun crafts April 15 2014
By AKirk - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover Verified Purchase
This book is a lot of fun. I love how simple and enjoyable the crafts are to create, and they are not your everyday craft projects. My daughter and I have spent a lot of time making them. Each page is so beautifully photographed and designed in an easy to follow format. This book would make the perfect gift.

HASH(0xa5a4760c) out of 5 stars CRAFTS FOR THE NOT SO CRAFTY! April 16 2014
By AmazonianLiz - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover
Make it easy. Make it fun. That's the key to crafting and exactly what Ms. Kingloff has done! There's nothing intimidating about this book. Her years of experience have led to this. This book may just be the only thing in the world to stop the constant chirping of my 4 year old son, "I want, my, iPad!" Truly.

HASH(0xa5a4784c) out of 5 stars A Truly Different and Hip Craft Book May 13 2014
By DecaturMamma - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover
This beautiful book features very thorough instructions while at the same time making it completely ok to deviate and be creative in executing the projects. At every step, Kingloff encourages real creative license and acknowledges that it's ok to do your own thing and that it does not have to be perfect. There is something powerful in finding that simple attitude in a how-to book, especially for children.

The many projects here are truly different from others you will run across typical kid books; they are modern, green, and thoughtful. As soon as we brought our copy home, both of my children devised a color-coded way of marking projects they each want to do individually and jointly. Pretty soon, the book looked like a it had crashed into a rainbow! This is not at all the usual reception for craft books at our house.

We have had a great deal of fun already making a few of the smaller-scale projects and have big plans for some of the showstoppers. Well worth the investment!

HASH(0xa5a47ac8) out of 5 stars Project Decorate your home! April 18 2014
By Traci Gingold - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover
My prayers have been answered! This book has it all - crafts that are FUN, EASY, and BEAUTIFUL!
So often when we are sitting around looking for things to do, I wish that I had something quick and easy to make with my kids. I'm often inclined to just bake some cookies or muffins - but how much sugar do I really want my kids to eat?! The projects in this book are so simple to do last minute with things I can find just by looking around my house. Even more wonderful than making the projects are the finished pieces - they are actually things I like to display in my home as opposed to stuffing in the garbage when my kids aren't looking. I think our favorite piece so far is the birdcage sculpture – just yarn and a balloon to start & Voila! So so glad to find a kid-centric craft book to turn to when we are in need or just in the mood to craft!

HASH(0xa5a47dbc) out of 5 stars Crafting for the whole family! April 2 2014
By Book Club Girl - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover
This book is fantastic! I am always looking for ways to engage my four year old so he doesn't start begging to watch more TV while his younger brother is napping. Project Kid is the answer. Many of the projects will be too advanced for him for the moment but that's the great thing about this book. We'll be able to use it for years to come.

What I especially like about this book is that the crafts look home made and made by kids. There is no element of perfection and exactness. The projects are fun and I think most families will already own most of the materials required. If not, most dollar stores will have these craft items. The author, Amanda Kingloff, even states in the introduction that if you don't have all of the supplies, it's easy enough to improvise because kids won't care.

All of the projects will require adult interaction/supervision. This is not a book you can hand to your kids in hope that they will craft independently for hours while you nurse a coffee and do a crossword.
