Product Description

Writing a novel? Learning indie publishing? This is the self-publishing guide you've been waiting for.

Write. Publish. Repeat is publishing for beginners and experienced writers alike.

In 2013, Johnny B. Truant and Sean Platt published 1.5 million words and made their full-time livings as indie authors. In Write. Publish. Repeat., they tell you exactly how they did it: how they created over 15 independent franchises across six publishing imprints and 100+ published works, how they turned their art into a logical, sustainable business, and how any author interested in indie publishing can do the same to build a sustainable, profitable career with their writing.

Write. Publish. Repeat. explains the current self-publishing landscape and covers the truths and myths about what it means to be an indie author now and in the foreseeable future -- beyond just "how to write a novel" or NaNoWriMo and delving into the brass-tacks realities of indie publishing. It explains how to create books your readers will love and will want to return to again and again. Write. Publish. Repeat. details expert methods for enhancing creativity, building story worlds, characters, and plots, understanding your market (right down to your ideal reader), using the best tools possible to capture your draft, and explains proven best practices for editing. The book also discusses covers, titles, formatting, pricing, and publishing to multiple platforms, plus a bit on getting your books into print (and why that might not be a good idea!). But most importantly, Write. Publish. Repeat. details the psychology-driven marketing plan that Sean and Johnny built to shape their stories into "products" that readers couldn't help but be drawn into -- thus almost automatically generating sales -- and explores ways that smart, business-minded writers can do the same to future-proof their careers.

This book is not a formula with an easy path to follow. It is a guidebook that will help you build a successful indie publishing career, no matter what type of writer you are ... so long as you're the type who's willing to do the work.

˃˃˃ What Indie Authors and Thought Leaders Are Saying:

"Two of the best in the biz... A gem for aspiring authors."

-- Hugh Howey

"I have a pretty popular blog on self-publishing, and I've written a couple of books on the topic myself - meaning I've read a lot on the topic and come across lots of different strategies and approaches to building a loyal audience. For my money, this is the best book on self-publishing out there."

-- David Gaughran

"It's tough to find more honest and straight-forward marketing advice than what you'll get from these indie authors."

-- Jane Friedman, former publisher of Writer's Digest

"The most important book on self-publishing I've ever read. "

-- Karol Gajda

"Consider it the most valuable guide book to publishing success."

-- Jim Kukral, Author Marketing Club

Chock-full of practical advice and examples, and I highlighted more in this book than I have in any other.

This is a great resource for indie publishers but also for the traditionally published. As the authors point out, the landscape will change rapidly but their strategies will adapt to keep up.

Most readers won't care about this, but the language and some of the examples' content can bother other readers. The authors are very clear about this in the introduction, but if you're picking this up online you may not have previewed the introduction. I would have been happier without it, but being forewarned was enough.

For inexperienced writers this book is a must read. Johnny and Sean have provided lots of detail on a variety of subjects under self-publishing umbrella while also keeping the reader focused on the big picture idea of actually writing good stuff.

As a wannabe writer I found this book to be extremely insightful. A very good and seemingly realistic guide to becoming an author in the e-book era.

I especially appreciated the honest reminders that most authors are not writing the world's next blockbuster. Instead this was a step-by-step manual for becoming effective as a writer and later as a publisher.

This is a good read for a variety of reasons. It walks you through the steps on what you need to do to increase your chances of success.

I think what I like the most is that they reinforce the idea that there isn't a special 'trick' to success. The key is to get to work and keep producing. Producing quality work is what leads to building a base of fans and growing them. It's the key to selling more content and it's the key to becoming more profitable.

Sometimes this is the type of thing you need to hear. Not to be built up by a book and make you feel good, but a 'get to work' message.

It's been pretty amazing following these guys over the past years with the incredible amount of fiction they pump out on a monthly basis.

When the opportunity came up to learn the backstage process of their business, I had to pick it up. All I can say is there is an INCREDIBLE amount of information in this book and you will walk away more comfortable and confident with the industry.

No, there is no magical formula or step-by-step guide. The authors do give away some of their favourite tools and tactics they use right now, but the backbone of the book is the strategy they use. **HINT: It's in the title** While the nature of the publishing industry is changing (especially the self-publishing avenues), the authors acknowledge this and let you know the strategy will still last. While I hesitate to agree a single strategy is going to last someone 50+ years, the core of what they get at won't change.

This book is not for the artist. It's not for those wanting to write the one great book and hoping it will become a worldwide best seller. This is for those who are willing to look at writing as a business and are committed to writing several books (per year even) with incremental results over time.

No shortcuts in here either - you will have to do the work and be patient.

It's written from a business perspective, from the most part. Here's how to succeed in the business of self-publishing, from people who've succeeded brilliantly, and who have invested a lot of time in learning from other indies.

It's loaded with profanity, so if that bothers you, be warned. It's also loaded with no-nonsense, practical, specific advice.

Bought this as part of the "Indie Author Power Pack" because I love listening to the podcast. Just read "Write. Publish. Repeat." this week, and it blew my mind. It was really funny and helpful. Covered pretty much everything I had questions about. Now I'm feeling even more motivated to get my stuff out there. Thanks, guys!

Worth the price and more. I enjoyed the narration and valued the instruction. What would have made it better is a section at the end of the book that sums up all the key points and procedures, which kindle doesn't make easy to do.
