Product Description

" Murphy has constructed a compelling, searching, and important tale that embraces some of the biggest questions of our day, and he does so using incredibly energetic art with dynamic, elastic compositional approaches."—Publishers Weekly Starred Review

Punk Rock Jesus is amazing. The series has been incredible right from the beginning and it ends in a spectacular fashion. It's brilliant and heartbreaking, epic and emotional…. This is book that makes you think. If you haven't been reading Punk Rock Jesus, you owe it yourself to pick up the collected addition when it releases this spring. Don't miss one of the best series of 2012.”—IGN
“Like the satirist and critical works of writers such as Jonathan Swift, John Locke, and Thomas Paine, Murphy has turned the written word upon its reader and exposed the ugly truths within ourselves, the country we live in, and the culture we have built around us. All of this, and an engrossing story with deep and authentic characters to boot.”—New Jersey Journal
“Every once in a while, a comic will come out that really defines everything that is amazing about the medium:  A comic that is thought provoking and emotion inducing.  A comic that speaks to people in so many different ways that each person has their own take and experience with it.  Punk Rock Jesus is that book.  It’s truly a book that crosses a line that few are willing to cross.”—

“Sean’s work is flawless….  Punk Rock Jesus is the best kind of scifi—a meditation on liberty for the cyber-age.”—Pop Matters
“Sean Murphy’s Punk Rock Jesus belongs in the same league as Watchmen, it’s a complete game changer.”—Craveonline
Punk Rock Jesus just feels like a classic in the making, and I urge you to get in on the ground floor while you still can.… I predict Punk Rock Jesus will change the life of Sean Murphy and shoot him right to the forefront of the industry as one of its top young stars.”—Ain’t It Cool News
“With its dark sense of humor and an uncompromising approach to somewhat subversive material, it feels like an underground hit that belongs to an earlier era. In more ways than one, this is a legend in the making. Definitely give it a shot, if only so you can say you were there when it happened.”—Comic Book Resources, Rating 5/5 Stars
"The fearlessness of Punk Rock Jesus is what grabs me the most, the sheer lack of disregard for what's "commercial" that Murphy and company exude in exchange for an earnest attempt at grabbing your attention, to strut its own stuff ... but in the secret hope that you're still watching. Well, you win this round, Punk Rock Jesus, just on style points alone. You've got yourself a disciple.”—Newsarama

I have only been reading comics occassionally for a couple years. I picked this up because I heard good reviews and liked Sean Murphy's work on American vampire so I thought I would give it a shot. Sean Murphy has constructed a unique comic (as far as I know)that is both seriously satirical and parodical of a society obsessed with religion, commercialism and reality tv. If you picked this book up because of the title then that's probably all you need to hear lol. Murphy challenges conventional perspectives on several aspects of society including, obviously, ethics with regard to the advancement of technology. I like Sean Murphy's art as well as the characters that he creates. I look forward to seeing where this series goes and will continue to follow it. I also like the intro which seems to facilitate a little more personalization between the author and his work (not to say other authors/artists lack personalization). Definitely has the makings of an intriguing dynamic gem of a series.

Sean Murphy first grabbed my attention when he did the art on an American Vampire mini American Vampire Vol. 3, then again when he did the art for Grant Morrison's Joe the Barbarian. I love his art. Next I heard Vertigo was doing a mini of Sean's creator own Punk Rock Jesus. The title alone grabs your attention.

PRJ is part political action, part rebelious youth, part religious mission statment, part Truman Show, and all amazingly awesome.

Great comics are written with fantastic chracters, great ideas, and a sturdy original story that has not been done before. He has done all these things with is first major puplisher release. Sean Murphy has followed in the footsteps of some great creators and has captured my attention from here on. This is a fantastic book that should be read by all fans of adult based comics. If you like Brian K Vaughan, Mark Millar, Scott Snyder, and Grant Morrison you will surely love this book. I will not spoil the sotry with any type of synopsis...

By the end you will ask yourself WWPRJD....

Once I started reading PRJ I had to get comfortable because I wasn't going to stop till I finished. One of the best Vertigo books I've read in years. Sean Murphy is not only a great artist but a very inventive writer as well.

I've heard a podcast with Sean Murphy and got fascinated with him. Fascinated with the person and not with the talent. I've saw some of his work around, loved The Wake and the American Vampire miniseries he did, but this is the first book I got that he not only drew but wrote and I couldn't stop to read until it was done.
