Overall, I found it a well-done blend of genuine personal biography with the adventure tales on the road. Ryan was rather accomplished with his multiple trips including RAAM, Tour Divide and several other long tours. From a cycling perspective, this is very impressive. The trips themselves didn't always go smoothly and in that are some fun tales told along the way. However, one of the aspects I found Ryan had done particularly well is relating some of his inter-personal struggles and interactions with others. That can be tough to do in what is essentially an auto-biography and Ryan pulled it off well.
The other thing I think Ryan documented well were personal struggles as he reached his limits, including on RAAM and an attempt for record stationary cycling attempt. I found it real, believable and genuine. While I am saddened to read of his passing, I am heartened that this "youngster" I met on the road in 2005 got a chance to write down this accounting of life.
