That being said, the characters are one dimensional and many are downright unlikable. The reader has to suspend some disbelief, but it is worth it, as the plot is so diabolically clever. It is a totally plot driven book and fiendishly imaginative. It is also a quick, easy read.
When Lauren Stillman sees her beloved husband, Paul, with another woman, she draws a conclusion that would set her on a path from which there would be no return. She sets out to have an affair of her own, a quickie, only to have it all go awry, when she witnesses an unbelievable and deadly act. From that moment on, Lauren's life will never be the same.
This book, with all its wild twist and turns, will keep the reader riveted to its pages. Truly suspenseful, it is a thriller that pulls out all the stops and provides a wild, crazy, rollercoaster of a ride. I read this book in one sitting, as I could not stop reading it, compulsively turning the pages until the very end. The book is a thriller in every sense of the word.
To sell this novella as a hardcover novel is deceptive to say the least. Although there are 274 pages, few of them are full pages. The authors have used a ridiculous chapter formula to cut the actual writing in half. There are 117 chapters! Each chapter begins 1/3 of the way down the page so that alone eats up a lot of pages but most of the chapters end 1/4 of the way into a page leaving an incredible amount of blank spaces.
If the lack of actual content was the only problem with this short story, I would still have given it a high rating but sadly, the lack of substence is not only evident in the pages but in the written word. This story is lacking any redeeming features. The characters are unlikeable and the plot is so choppy that it's almost unreadable.
This book was such a disappointment that it will be difficult to commit either time or money to another Patterson effort.
It moved very quickly, it was suspenseful, twisted and turned albeit a little predictably.
What I wasn't crazy about: it felt too short and segmented in parts as though it needed more information, but then that's what kept me reading!
4 out of 5 for being a fun nighttime-before-bed read, not a great work of literature.

Pretty fasted paced, interesting but hard to believe the sequence of events. She certainly had all the luck going for her.Published 23 months ago by jntame
