Product Description

A steamy, full-length, standalone romance with a guaranteed HEA from Amazon best-selling author Alison Ryan... REVEL, a second chance summer romance.

Declan DeGraff is old money, turned no money, turned new money.

He's fresh off the deal of the decade; he's just sold his tech firm for over two billion dollars and he should be on top of the world.

But he's still missing what he lost, long ago. And every time success comes his way, he's reminded of how he would trade it all to have her back again.

Charlotte Sanders is running from the past. Again.

Years ago she fell deeply in love with the last man she should have allowed into her heart and near her body. After a summer of passion, he ended it abruptly, tearing Charlotte apart and making her swear off ever letting anyone in again.

But now she's come back to the city where it all happened, Charleston, South Carolina, determined to find answers to the questions he never wanted her to ask.

A chance encounter takes them right back to where they started. But can they get past the secrets they’re keeping? Or are they destined to repeat the mistakes of a past they’re both desperate to forget?

WARNING This book is steamy. It will also break your heart and mend it again. A couple of times. But love prevails in the end, as always. Enjoy!

About the Author

Alison Ryan is a romance author who lives with her husband and sons in a southern kind of heaven. She loves books about love, watching too much Bravo, and good bourbon. Not always in that order.

In her former life she has been all of the above: a Las Vegas limo driver, an insurance adjuster, an American Idol reject, a repo woman, and a graveyard front desk clerk at a dilapidated motel on the shores of the Redneck Riviera. (Panama City Beach) Her 20's were a fun, but exhausting time.

She is quite happy to be pretty boring in her 30's.

Revel is an emotional read that follows the journey of two characters who (as you can probably guess from the name of the series) find themselves facing a second chance at being together after a decade apart. Alison Ryan creates many poignant moments that shift from sweet to sad to outright steamy, and weaves them all together with a compellingly structured story line that had me hooked from the start.

Told in alternating snapshots of the characters' presents and pasts, the story drew me in with the contrast of how happy the characters were together ten years ago and how much they were hurting in the present. Alison Ryan gives just enough hints to keep readers intrigued until the truth is eventually revealed. I also found in interesting to compare the characters' attitudes across the years and see how it was they had come to change and grow.

A unique element of the novel is how central the setting is to the story. The descriptions alone were enough to convince me that I'll need to visit Charleston one day, and I found myself constantly looking up places that were mentioned by the characters. The lifestyle and class distinctions of the area were intriguing to read about, as were the emotional ties that both the hero and the heroine attached to various locations in the story. It was a refreshing addition to the typical aspects of a romance novel.

Set in the summertime and featuring plenty of beaches and sunshine to contrast with the drama of the story, I'd definitely recommend it as an enjoyable summer read.

Still trying to tweak recipe. So far I am finding it really has not baked well. The worst was when I used bread flour! I will try dough setting only & bake in conventional oven. If that doesn't work, I may need to return it! 😕

5.0 out of 5 stars Sins of the Parents Haunted This Unlikely Couple In a Fresh Take on Old Lovers Meet Again Dec 13 2016
By Guy Reviewing Romance and More - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
In Revel, Alison Ryan has managed to create two damaged characters without relying on the usual trope of "evil ex" but instead, managed to deploy a new variation on "sins of our parents" that torn apart a couple that should have stayed together. Declan DeGraff was of old money in Charleston, then his family went broke, but he clawed his way back and became a billionaire again, but there was one thing missing from his life: the girl that he drove away... Because he had made a promise. The girl was Charlotte Sanders, who lost her mother in Charleston, but she came back to get her degree. Chance put her in front of Declan 10 years ago and they became friends, housemates, then lovers. But he drove her away. Now ten years later, she's going back to Charleston for a sabbatical from her job burnout, and serendipity had put her in front of Declan once again... And it is time for them to learn if they can get past the mistakes they made...

Declan managed to come off as confident, but not cocky while Charlotte "Charlie" was strong yet vulnerable. There were two versions of each character, from ten years ago, and the present day, and they manage to sound different enough. Very much enjoyed this book

5.0 out of 5 stars Will Declan And Charlotte Find Love Again? Feb. 25 2016
By Pam Criswell - Published on Amazon.com

I was given this as an ARC and this is my opinion. Once again Ms. Ryan has given us a great story that is starting off with some questions about Declan and Charlotte. The story goes back and forth between today and ten years ago. Delcan and Charlotte were together ten years ago but something happened to tear them apart. Neither on of them has forgotten the other. Fate has them both coming back to Charleston after long years. Neither one knows the other is there yet but they will soon find that out. This story has been set up so good I am already dying to know what happened to pull them apart and is there a chance they can connect again. I love Ms. Ryan's writing. All her characters are someone I feel like I would know and like to be around. It looks like I'm in for a treat of another one of her fantastic stories. BOOK 2 PLEASE!

4.0 out of 5 stars Emotional romance with a happy ending! July 21 2016
By Jen Thomason - Published on Amazon.com

Declan and Charlotte’s story is one of sweet love and romance, mixed with heartache and frustration. As soon as the two meet there is an instant connection, and it’s only a matter of time until they are head over heels for one another and in a steamy romance. However, the fabulous Declan ends up breaking Charlotte’s heart and ending everything between them. Years later, Charlotte is a successful doctor but decides she needs some time to herself, which means returning to Charleston. Charlotte thinks that Declan is living it up in a rich, fancy lifestyle in California when actually he is back in Charleston. Just like their first meeting, fate seems to bring them back together to deal with the past.

There are some incredibly romantic and hot moments between Declan and Charlotte, but also some very sad and emotional moments. “Revel” questions the limits of love, what we can forgive, and what we can’t move past. However, it is also a reminder that we are our own people and don’t deserve to pay for the crimes of others, even when those others are our family. I enjoyed this novel very much, especially the fast pace of the storyline, but felt that something was missing. I’m not sure if I wanted to learn more about the characters in the years apart or if I just wanted them to have more time growing us a couple, but it just felt that something wasn’t complete. The novel had it’s happy ending of course, but without giving away spoilers, I guess I just wanted them to have more time as them, getting to know each other again. Don’t get me wrong, I loved this novel and absolutely plan to read more from Alison Ryan! This is quick romantic read but also filled with definite heartache and emotion.

5.0 out of 5 stars ... I have read by this author and I really enjoyed her style of writing July 8 2016
By Ladee Aqua - Published on Amazon.com

This is the first book I have read by this author and I really enjoyed her style of writing. I prefer third person prose, such as this. The words flowed, even though we were on a journey of past and future, told from the protagonists point of view.

Because I am such a romantic, I adored the telling of this unusual story. I felt great sympathy, empathy and sensitivity towards Declan and Charlotte. And, to me, their passion is exquisitely described for the amazing love they shared. Thankfully, there is a HEA, which made me smile.

I will definitely be reading more books by Alison Ryan! Hopefully, others will discover her talent, as well. Kudos!
