I would highly recommend this product. It cooks packaged instant ramen very quickly and without using a pot & boiling water on the stove. I would suggest that one experiment with the cook times as all microwaves are different in wattage. Also the instructions don't specify to add the seasoning before or after cooking. I added mine after to control the amount of saltiness. Overall a neat product.

PROS : easy to use, minimal clean up after use. Cook and eat in the same tub.
CONS : expensive, $30 for these two plastic tubs? Really?

I bought this for the same reasons most others would - I love ramen, but don't have the space/time to drag out a pot and find a stove for something that's supposed to be a quick meal. In my case, I'm often eating ramen when I'm at the office, where I don't have a stove handy at all, and I like to get all different kinds of ramen and not limit myself to whatever comes in a foam cup.

First thing to get out of the way - everything that the cooker claims is true. Throw the ramen in the container, fill with water to the fill line, cook in the microwave for 3 minutes, and boom - ramen ready for the seasoning packet and consumption.

The cooker also claims in a roundabout way health benefits, because of the smaller amount of water used. Since there is less water, the makers say that you can use half the seasoning packet, which cuts the "sodium" in half. While most of that is true (assuming all the sodium in ramen is in the seasoning, which it isn't), it also leads to the product's main drawback - minimal soup.

Many eat ramen (and see ramen on packaging) as part of soup - you get noodles and a large bowl of soup. Using the instructions of the cooker, you get noodles - cooked great - and a minimal amount of soup, if any at all. This is great if you're the type who just eats the noodles and leaves the soup base to be poured down the drain after eating, but if you're like my wife and enjoy both parts equally, you'll find yourself cooking the noodles, then pouring hot water into the bowl after cooking to get your soup, and in doing so using the entire soup flavor packet, eliminating the "health benefit".

That said, it's still extremely handy to have and use, and I haven't had a time where the noodles didn't come out well cooked. It may take a few times to learn how much time you wish to use (the more time, the less water you end up with) and what to do with your end product (add more water at the end, etc.) I've used several different kinds of ramen from the local Asian market from Japan, Thailand, China, and Indonesia, and all have cooked well. Just know that this is more of a "noodle cooker" than a "soup cooker", and adjust accordingly, and you'll enjoy your product.

There is simply nothing misrepresented here.

Perfect noodles.

Two come in the pack, and they are bpa-free dishwasher safe. They are much thicker and more durable then appear in the picture. Plus they are cheap. Perfect value item.

I bought one of these when it first hit the market. It's true, you can nuke your noodles in any old bowl. BUT, if you are the kind of person who eats ramen noodles because you like them and not just because they're cheap. If you are the person who buys the dollar-a-pack noodles in the Asian food section and cooks them in a pot, testing and stirring till they are perfect. Then you can understand what this little bowl does. It makes perfect noodles, every time, without all the tending and stirring. It's not just about getting the ramen cooked, it's about getting it cooked right. That is what this bowl does.

Just got it and cooked two bowls that were great. The bowls are very sturdy. The instructions on the box are a bit over simplified. So I found the youtube video made by the inventor and his wife to make sure I knew the right order of steps.

Here is the most clear version of INSTRUCTIONS FROM THE INVENTOR:

1. Put noodle brick in the bowl.
2. Fill with any temperature water to fill line (half way up on inside of bowl) with noodles submerged.
3. Cook on high in microwave for 4 minutes.
4. Stir in half the packet of seasoning.

Since this uses half the water of stove top cooking, they use half the seasoning which cuts the salt intake in half. True that this doesn't make as much watery soup as the stove top method. But for me, that fine I don't really want so much watery soup.

I have tried these variations:

o tried it with all the packet and you may like it more salty
o tried taking the ramen brick out of the water before cooking, mixing in the seasoning first, so that the noodles soak up more flavor during cooking
o tried cooking for 3 minutes to provided a firmer noodle. Try it out.
