They're super comfortable, surprisingly light enough to wear them for hours and still feel comfortable. Build quality feels sturdy with a little heft, but not heavy enough to be uncomfortable, whatsoever. I really like that the volume wheel has a small click when reaching the midpoint, so you don't have to guess. Really nice touch.
I was to able to plug and play immediately. Once I plugged it into my computer I was prompted to download some Razer software, which was super easy to setup and took a few minutes to learn. One thing I don't fully get the purpose of is THX Spatial Audio. It sounds noticeably worse than when it's off, but maybe I don't fully get the purpose yet. I'll update this review if I get it to work properly, but for now, I keep it off.
In terms of product quality, it feels like a high-quality pair of headphones. I'm not an audiophile by any means but I absolutely love how these feel and sound. The ear cushions don't trap sweat or heat and honestly just feel great after long gaming sessions.
The Synapse app has a lot of options, an equalizer, and various presets like Movie, Game, and Music. Just the Default preset is great already. Music sounds really good, when consuming media like Youtube videos, or Netflix, the headphones sound great and I can't complain.
Overall these are quite amazing headphones. I highly recommend getting them if you have something higher quality than the typical "budget headphones." It's definitely worth the price. Definitely a great buy. Hope it can last me a year or two, AT LEAST.
One of the headsets I returned, I kept the other one [Logitech G ProX?] and spent another 100CAD on a new microphone for it, a Blu mic that was purchasable after the fact.
No matter what I did, these headsets were awful. I struggled through this for almost six months before finally giving up and going back to my Blackshark. I immediately started getting compliments on my voice.
I bought the newest Blackshark a few days later, this one, plugged it in today and the microphone quality is slightly better. I didn't need to purchase it, but I'm grinding that compliment rep now.
I use Equalizer APO with Peace Equalizer installed. I messed with Peace Equalizer to make it perfect for this headset and my god, it sounds amazing. This headset responds really well to an equalizer. I've had people ask me if I do ASMR, telling me my microphone quality is amazing, my voice sounds beautiful. I'm so happy.
Maybe out of the box it wouldn't sound as good, but when you run Equalizer APO and Peace as well, the sound quality you can get out of it is amazing. I cannot say the same for other headsets I've used. The Logitech G Pro was awful for mic quality, and so was whatever other headset I tried and returned.
They cost more than double the amount of this headset and the mics on them were just awful.
This is the headset. It's a good price, a very fair price, the sound quality for music in incredible and very bassy as well.
It's also super comfortable. I bent it a bit at the top to make it press less on my ears, and the flexibility of this headset is much better than others. You can bend it to fit any head.
Earpads are super comfortable, more comfortable than the last version as well. And the cord for this headset is longer than previous versions, like the one with the green cord is about six inches shorter. It makes it much easier to use the headset, even with those extra few inches.
All in all, I won't be buying other headsets anymore. Razer far outshines much more expensive headsets.
♥
I own some pretty high-end sound equipment at home: HD6XX headphones, Klipsch Reference Premiere speakers, etc. Out of the box this headset has genuinely fantastic sound quality when plugged in with the 3.5mm plug or through the Razer USB adapter. The volume knob on the headset is convenient. For out of the box sound an comfort I would recommend this to anyone.
Microphone is very good quality for a headset. I tested it plugged into my laptop by using the Microsoft Voice Recorder with the 3.5mm connection, with the Razer USB-A adapter, and with 2 different branded USB-C adapters, and compared it against the laptop microphone, the Massdrop Porta Pro inline microphone, a $150 AKG Perception 120, and a $450 Audio Technica AT4040.
For some reason the USB connections all had pretty low microphone volume, even with the Windows microphone setting set to maximum. The 3.5mm direct connection was plenty loud, so this seems to be a function of all of the USB adapters with Windows. Both the Razer adapter and the 3.5mm connection had very good clarity, there's no audible distortion, clipping or booming and sibilance and plosives are minimal, but the 3.5mm connection was significantly louder. It doesn't doesn't have the warm 'broadcast' sound of a large microphone, but no headset really does (the M50X-STS is probably closest).
I also tested the headset hooked up to my Galaxy A53 smartphone using a $12 Gsangoo 3.5mm to USB-C "HiFi" audio adapter. Audio quality was again very clear, both listening and recording the microphone. I was able to make phonecalls without issue. I intend to use this headset to augment my WFH setup.
I am very impressed with the audio quality and comfort of this headset considering the price point.
Durability TBD.
Top reviews from other countries
This headset offers a remarkable gaming audio experience with its THX 7.1 Spatial Surround Sound, specially when adjusting them with the software in PC.
Sound Quality: The THX 7.1 Spatial Surround Sound truly immerses you in your games, allowing you to pinpoint enemy movements and enjoy a rich audio environment. The 50mm drivers deliver crisp, clear sound with deep bass that enhances the overall gaming experience. Thanks to the 3.5 mm Jack they can be used in every device, but remember the USB DAC will only work on pc.
Comfort: The BlackShark V2 is incredibly comfortable, even during long gaming sessions. The plush ear cushions and the lightweight design make it easy to wear for hours on end without discomfort. Even when wearing glasses.
Detachable Mic: The detachable microphone is a great feature, offering clear voice communication in-game. When not in use, it can be conveniently removed, giving the headset a more streamlined look. The noise cancellation is amazing. My wife usually watches TV when I play and my friends say they can’t hear the background noise while we are chatting.
Build Quality: The headset feels sturdy and well-built, and it looks fantastic with its ESL Edition branding. I must say I only bought this edition because I liked the color, and they look much better in person than in the photos.
Compatibility: The fact that it's compatible with multiple gaming platforms, including the latest consoles like the PS5, makes it a versatile choice for gamers.
The only con I can think of is the lack of a chat mixer knob, but I don’t think its enough to deduct a Star.
Overall, the Razer BlackShark V2 Gaming Headset - ESL Edition is an outstanding choice for gamers who want top-notch audio quality, comfort, and style. It's a premium gaming headset that delivers on all fronts, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking to enhance their gaming experience.

2019 Polk Striker Zx It had ok Sound but the mic was terrible. And over time headset became painful to wear. 2021 Next was, Runmus Gaming headset Mic was fine and headset was a bit heavy. But the 3.5 mm Jack got bent over time and stopped working. 2022 Next I tried, Turtle Beach Recon 70 Nice sound but mic wouldn’t work clearly and headset isn’t comfortable for long time use.
Now I have found a headset that has good clear sound, people can hear me. Headset itself is lighter than most I’ve tried. Very easy to wear over long periods of time.
Pro’s Sound, Headset Comfortable and Soft on the Ear’s, Large Clear Microphone, Soft Cord, Volume Control easy access and my favorite a 3.5mm Jack that is in a L shape connection. This keeps the Jack from bending and breaking. As seen in picture.
Con’s Mute Button small and in odd place. Would have liked it higher up on top of the earphone.

At least I had the option to tweak the settings because before getting the Blackshark V2 I had tried the Razer Kraken V3, and there is no fixing the audio that headset produces. Those were my second Razer product ever and my first Razer headset, I was shocked they put their name on something that shoddy. If Razer hadn't been having a sale that made their products an attractive price at the time I'd never have given their headsets the time of day ever again.
The comfort on these is fairly good, nothing extraordinary to me but I usually take meetings and listen to music through audiophile quality headphones and I often put custom earpads on them, so my standards are very high. These certainly exceed what I would normally expect from comfort in a set of headphones at this pricepoint, but I find them to be less comfortable than your average Sennheiser headphones. The cups are a bit more shallow with the default cups and rest closer to my ear than I would like. Replacement pads are at the top of my shopping list for these, though I do like the breathable jersey material on the outside of them.
The audio quality is acceptable. I honestly haven't even considered using these to listen to music or play games, and in meetings I have much lower expectations for the audio quality others bring to the table than I do for myself. But at no point has the audio quality jumped out to me as being bad. I ran a quick 3 track audio test just now and they're very bright sounding, which is to say these seem better tuned to produce higher frequencies than lower ones. They don't spark joy in my inner audiophile, but they're not bad either. This is acceptable audio. A sound that I think most people will find agreeable unless they're especially bass hungry. For those of you who are Dankpods fans I can offer an excellent frame of reference, you can barely hear the bongo player going off in Earth, Wind, & Fire's "September" with these.
One notable feature that I've not encountered before (because I have gone out of my way to avoid using headsets) but really appreciated is the sidetone. I don't like closed back headphones and stick to open backs unless I'm listening to music in a public place. And I REALLY hate talking with closed backs headphones because I can't hear myself and I feel like I'm yelling. The sidetone option these offer takes in and plays ambient noise back to me so that I can hear myself and the world around me in real time. It may seem like a silly thing to want but for those of you who feel the same as myself I can promise this is a LOVELY feature to have.
It's a beautiful design, the soft earpads are extremely comfortable but can leave my earholes abit sweaty after a couple hours gaming.
The sound is boomy and detailed, took me a little while to get used to the sound difference after initially switching from my Corsairs to these but now I'm used to it I'm extremely happy. The mic is excellent and I love that it's detachable, the design is subtle enough for me to wear as headphones out in public without drawing attention to myself.
