Cheaper version of the Wolverine Ultimate. Some minor improvements
UPDATE:The build quality on this controller is terrible. After one year of using it I need to replace it with the old model which is higher build quality (Razer Ultimate). I’ve dropped it on the ground a handful of times from my chair (not a far drop) and one of the main paddles has broke, the left stick isn’t registering in some directions, and the cable has become so sensitive that the controller disconnects with small nudges on the USBc -C input cable.DO NOT BUY THIS CONTROLLER. The Wolverine Ultimate is way better. If you’re thinking about getting this controller maybe you’ve had the Wolverine Ultimate controller in the past (left in photo). See Pros and Cons below:PROS:-Fixed the issue where the thumb sticks detach and go flying when you drop the controller. They stay on better now and can still be easily swapped out for the variable length/texture sticks.-Slightly lighter weight than the ultimate. Also a more rounded shape and textured grip. Same button and paddle orientation as the ultimate.-Removed the audio button bar on the bottom of the ultimate which never worked.CONS:-They rounded the ends of the handles on this controller which drives me crazy. The pointed tips made the ultimate feel SO much better for distributing the weight to all 3/4 fingers on the bottom side of the controller. I’ve given my hands almost a month now of adjustment and I still prefer the shape of the ultimate. My aim isn’t as clean on this controller because I can’t use my pinkies to stabilize the controller like I could when there was an extra cm of length on the ultimate. This is only relevant for larger hands.-Feels a bit cheaper in terms of build quality than the ultimate. Will update this post if it breaks prematurely. The ultimate gave me almost 2 years of regular use before the M2 button (extra trigger) died on me.-A small gripe I have with this controller is that I can’t re-use my old thumb sticks from the ultimate on this V2 model because they completely changed the interface for the thumb sticks. They’re more secure now, but if you lose them you’re screwed because it’s impossible to find thumb stocks for razor controllers. And now they’re all different. Yippee.Overall I want to like this controller. My biggest problem is that they shortened the handles slightly which makes it much less comfortable for my big hands. I still use it and won’t be getting anything else to replace it. But I couldn’t give it more than 3 stars because I would trade this controller for an ultimate again in a heart beat. Too bad they discontinued the ultimate so I’m stuck w this one. Also—I personally love the paddle layout and got very comfortable with all 4 paddles on the ultimate. It does take time to adjust your hands to these paddles compared to some other paddle models but once you get the hang of it you’ll love them.

The controller itself feels nice to hold and I especially enjoy the clicking sound of the buttons.

It's clearly a high quality controller and the grip feels nice, so do the analog sticks.

It's a little expensive however if you get it on sale it's a good purchase.

Their are a couple of downsides however, the controller not being wireless is a major drawback especially in 2022 when almost everything is wireless. Another issue is the fact the cord itself isn't braided it's just a normal plastic covering which is weird considering all my other Razer products have a braided cable so I don't understand why they failed to add one to the controller. It seems like a way to cut corners and costs and just looks bad when compared to their other wired products.

The last thing is the white light on the controller is extremely bright, like a high lumen flashlight bright and honestly it's annoying. The product doesn't sync with synapse for some reason when every other razer product does. You also can't turn that power indicator light off unless you unplug the controller or go into device manager and disable the controller. It would be nice to have synapse support and the ability to turn off the power indicator or at the very least adjust the brightness like you can with other razer products.

The product is good and if your used to Xbox controllers it will feel natural to use, however the controller not being wireless is a major downside and was the sole factor in me almost not purchasing this product.

The only reason I bought this controller is because the competitors wireless version is $100 more. Had they been the same price I would've purchased the competitors controller but to me wireless isn't worth double the cost.

This was cheaper for me than a real xbox controller, and feels higher quality at least for the buttons and stuff. the face buttons have a little click like the switch in a mouse.

I wanted a simple wired controller for my laptop which also happens to be a Razer. It works as expected, build quality is solid. I think it's supposed to have re-bindable buttons next to the triggers but I don't know how those are supposed to work nor do I care about using them.

I think the left one is A and the right one is B or something like that. There's also little toggle thingies to make the triggers not go in as much. Seems cool but also something I won't use.

I got the white version, it looks super clean. I'd use it in public if I ever decided to bring my laptop to a cafe or something and I wouldn't be self conscious about a bunch of flashy lights and logos. I will say the white light on the front under the XBOX button is kinda bright, which is annoying if you play in the dark.

Maybe the synapse software can turn that off but I'll just put some tape over it or something if I ever decide I care that much. None of the negatives are really worth docking a star though so 5 from me.

As a gamer of many years, I've owned almost every console ever made. I've seen many 3rd party controllers and most back in the day were bad. Being a console guy I found it difficult to make the jump to PC gaming until guys like Razer made these types of controllers. I currently own an Xbox Elite 1 and 2 and these controllers given the price I paid ( 190 and 220 canadian) are absolute trash. The Wolverine V2 Chroma is a far superior product. Mechanical switches on the abxy buttons as well as 2 extra front facing remappable buttons. Not to mention the paddles underneath. The controller is wired but has a detachable USB C braided cord. There isn't a battery so the controller is super light but doesn't feel like cheap plastic. The customization on the buttons is super easy via the software app and RGB color is a nice touch. You can even control your in game audio and chat volume via the d-pad and a button press. I really wish this would have been around when I purchased my Elite2 and saved myself the agony of throwing 220 bucks out a window. I'm on my 2nd Elite 2 and it's failed again , 7 months lifespan on both controllers. Microsoft treated me like trash and won't replace the 2nd broken controller. I've dealt with Razer customer support before for a mouse issue and they were fantastic. I'd say support guys like Razer who make stuff for gamers and screw Microsoft, a corporation which has a hand in gaming but doesn't care about gamers. Their track record speaks for itself. I'll check back with this review in 7 months to hopefully add that in still using the Wolverine without issue. CHEERS .......GOOOOO RAZER!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Comfortable, improvement from V1 with some differences

TL;DR: Great controller, super comfy for someone with big hands. Some very minor annoyances, but a big improvement from the V1 that takes a bit to get used to.

-
Controller is fantastic out of the box. Has all the features the V1 did except the media control at the bottom of the controller. Some major gripes I have coming from the V1 to this controller;

1. Lack of RGB control & software compatibility. The V1 didn't have either, but it would have been nice to see it implemented into the newer model. This means the colors around the controller are stuck on changing rainbow colors, and cannot be turned off or set to a single static color.

2. Button placement... As someone who uses both the menu buttons adjacent the home button quite often, the left menu button is positioned directly in front of the left joystick making it a massive pain to reach your thumb over all the time. I genuinely can't see any reason it couldn't remain in its original spot similar to the V1, but all the other buttons are perfectly fine.

3. The port for the wire has a sizeable gap beneath it, giving the USB-C a bit too much leeway and thus being fairly loose. Have yet to encounter any actual issues with it (hasn't come unplugged, etc.)

All round great controller, but if you're coming from the V1 expecting 'new and improved', it's more of a 'different but better' kind of experience. The mech switches for the AXBY buttons have squish now, which took a ton of getting used to compared to the clicky V1 switches. After using both for some time, though, I can say I do actually prefer the V2 squishy switches. As I don't use the additional buttons at all I can't speak to their performance or placement much, though I did think the bottom buttons were a bit hard to reach.

Agora o motivo do título desta avaliação.
