Widow Liz Davenport assumes when she begins to date, her new man will be like her late husband--a member of the Rod and Cane Society and an experienced disciplinarian who can provide her with loving guidance she requires to feel grounded and secure. So why is she attracted to Grant Davis, an ex-Naval JAG officer who works for her nemesis and has never spanked a woman in his life?

Events in his recent past have forced Grant to take stock of his life and try some new things. But spank a woman? He’s never considered that before, but with Liz’s coaching he’s willing to try.

But when the past collides with the present, will he be able to step up and become the disciplinarian Liz needs?

5.0 out of 5 stars Romantic love story with the bonus of spankings! Jan. 13 2015
By Natasha Knight (Author) - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition
The Rod and Cane Society books are some of my favorite for spanking romance. I've read each of the books and each one is very good, very well written, telling a very romantic, sexy story with distinct characters who stand out and with whom I can relate.

With Reasonable Doubts, Liz is a spanko but Grant is not and for anyone in a relationship like this one, you can wholly relate. I liked Liz and Grant right away - I knew Liz briefly from past books but just truly liked her character. She was smart, independent and strong and she knew what she needed and wanted. Grant was (from a spanko's POV) innocent - at first - but when Liz came clean with what she wanted, he became that and easily so. I think it's interesting to see how men who aren't spankos and wouldn't spank a woman react to women who want it, and Grant's experience was very real (and hot). Although he struggled with it at first, he more than grew into the role and at a certain point, embraced it wholly and you could see where DD could play a positive role in a relationship.

All in all, a romantic love story with hot spankings as a bonus, unfiltered sex scenes and I just hope this series continues.

5.0 out of 5 stars Second-chance love Jan. 12 2015
By Lisa Medley - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition
I loved this book. As a middle-aged woman in a long-term relationship myself, I can’t even IMAGINE starting over and loving someone new. When Liz Davenport finds herself a widow after twenty-two years of marriage, she has to do just that. Of course it proves harder than anything she’d ever done before including making and then losing a partnership in a prestigious law firm due to her ‘lifestyle’.

Grant Davis is strong, self-assured and struggling to overcome issues of his own in a new job as well as a new town.
Bristol makes their lives and relationship deliciously complicated as usual. I have to keep telling myself there WILL be a happy ending despite her machinations to the contrary. I’m just glad she’s not pulling my strings.

Great characters. Great story. Great standalone book. I can’t wait for the next one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Newest Book to the Cane and Rod series is the best one yet! Jan. 14 2015
By Amazon Customer - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition
Another great read from the Rod and Cane Society series. And another story that I love so much that I want to read it again. I fell in love with the characters. It is great to see that a middle aged woman, recently widowed and recently fired can still seek out and find a man that is right for her.
Most of the people I know, it seems that the man is already into the spanking scene and ends up introducing his girl friend to the spanking/club scene. He can spot a submissive a mile away. None of that here. Grant is a very strong and what one would think, a natural Dom but is unfamiliar with spanking until he meets Liz.
The Rod and Cane Society series has another adds one more to my favorite series. This book is a definite must read. Cara does a great job with her characters and they are easy to fall in love with. Great book!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Must Read! Jan. 12 2015
By SJ Maylee - Published on

Reasonable Doubts is the kind of story I love. The hero and heroine have chemistry that can't be denied. The hero fights for his heroine in page turning ways. Plus, there's yummy discovery in all the hot spanking action.

If you like your heroine's smart and your stories erotic. You have to read this one.

Cara Bristol has done it again. I love how how her words flow together. Reasonable Doubts is a tremendous addition to her Rod and Cane Society erotic romance stories.

I received an advanced copy in exchange for my honest and fair review.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful addition to Rod and Cane Series Jan. 12 2015
By Laurel - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition
I loved all the previous Rod and Cane books and I just finished reading Reasonable Doubts. It can be read as a standalone or with the previous books. I loved the fact that the main characters, Liz Davenport and Grant Davis are middled aged and they are well developed and both successful in their professions. The story line is excellent and believable and both are characters you immediately like. Since the overview gives more details I won't but will say that there is romance, some suspense, domestic discipline and a well written book. (less)
