Red. is the story of a man by the name of Niklaus. The connection to the previous series alluded me in the beginning. Nothing seemed to add up. The main reason was the initial setting took me by surprise as it was outside of the Bratva. Feeling fairly cocky, I thought I could predict the storyline, but then a sudden plot twist brought me down to earth with a thud. It reaffirmed this was exactly the kind of genre I anticipated and how everything was connected. What shocked me was the violence and cruelty dealt out to innocent people. What impressed me most about Red was the way the story held me when I doubted anything could make me forget.

Red. is determined to seek revenge for the atrocities he was forced to endure and witness. It’s about being taken from all you have known and then introduced to a lifestyle totally abhorrent to you. Then given a choice to take a path, that can’t erase the past but with a promise to seek out payment from the perpetrators who have made him the man he has become.

There are three game changers in this story as well as including other characters from the story of the Volkov Bratva series. Trust is the major focus from beginning to the end of every relationship that includes Niklaus. The main characters, Reagan and Niklaus both have family and work related issues that test their ability to trust. Both of them exert caution and care in all aspects of their lives, but when it comes to each other, it’s a different story. They both fear their attraction to each other at various times, and it leaves them vulnerable in ways neither is prepared to risk facing.

Normally I like to share my likes and struggles at the end of my reviews, but I can’t think of what I can share without spoiling the story for others. My choice then is to share that despite reading one of the most horrific heartbreaking scenes I’ve read in a story (and I’ve read a few), this is by far still a 5-star worthy beginning to a new series. I finished this book eager to read Celt’s story which is coming out very soon, and I am beyond curious as to hear about the life he has kept so well hidden.

5.0 out of 5 stars Superb Plot, Solid Writing, Breathtaking Romance Jan. 29 2017

Dear Red -
Okay, first of all, being sexy AND a badboy with a hidden heart is how you cause romance readers around the world to drop trou and beg for you in dreams.

Second of all, did you have to be intelligent and cunning to boot? Come on, man!

And finally, third of all, to have a damn good reason to be deadly? *Sigh* A grown woman can't fight that kind of thing. Seriously.

A Very Smitten Fan

^^ That is literally how I felt reading the fantastic romantic suspense that is Red by London Miller. The series, Den of Mercenaries, has my full attention. The writing is fantastic, the voice of the narrator grabs you and doesn't let go, the scenes aren't overplayed, it is easy to connect to the characters, and the flaws are wonderful. Nobody is perfect, mistakes are made, but you see the humanity in each. The romance is real, the sex is steamy, the setting and plot well executed.

I have been recommending far and wide, London Miller has made it into my top five authors.
5.0 out of 5 stars Niklas' story so good!!!! Aug. 28 2016

I have really enjoyed the different books regarding the Volkov family with this being Red aka Niklas Volkov's story which has a lot of twists turns and surprises in store for the reader to enjoy. Niklas is even more interesting than Mishka, and Luka's stories. They all have their struggles and Niklas was definitely no exception with a background of terrible torture and injustice that have made him the man he is. In this story he meets Reagan along the way and she goes in and out of his life as he does what he needs to do to extract justifiable revenge for events of his past. Reagan has had her own struggles as well which have made her the woman is and exactly the person to qualm Niklas savage inner beast and hold it at bay to a degree no one else can reach him. As his story plays out it also will bring up a surprise in that you can get that this is just the beginning of so much more to come. Great story will enjoy the rest of characters as it all plays out. I have just started reading London's books as I got interested through reading another favorite author Bethany-Kris and their recent joint writings. I must say I am also enjoying London's books as well.

This book is such a page turner, if you got up with Klaus in the previous books. I would recommend starting with Volkov Bratva book 1 to get the most enjoyment.

Two days, and it was worth it, I do want more for Klaus and Reagan's story, and I wish there was another part to this. Especially now that you've brought in the Kingmaker Ulliean or whatever his name is at the end, now I am even more intrigued. Can't wait for the next part..
