HASH(0xa5b0572c) out of 5 stars The She-Devil in Norse Mythology is a Winning Combo... Oct. 3 2013
By 4-Legged Defender - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
This sequel to 'Red Sonja - Wrath of the Gods' is even more rousing (and no, I'm not talking about luscious Red Sonja, but I could be) and blood-drenched than its predecessor, and even has a tighter script, better pacing and a more polished finale, thanks to superb storytelling by Luke Lieberman, who also wrote the first installment.

Artwork by Daniel Sampere is top shelf, as he does our She-Devil poetic, sultry justice, just as she delivers her own brand of justice to all who stand in her way. Returning characters Thor, Odin and Loki aren't given the Marvel-universe treatment here - no, they're more like the Norse mythos character gods of yore than the Hollywood treatment I so despise (anyone agree with me on this, or have I just stuck my neck out yet again only to have it lopped off like so many warriors in this tale?). The other non-Norse villain is a feral, visceral bastard named Kaaz Raja, just the guy we love to hate as we root for his villainy, knowing he'll get his come-uppance soon enough. Brutal battle scenes ensue, again and again, Ancient Evils are untombed and kingdoms are vanquished, heroes fall, numbers dwindle and odds are lost before a conclusion is reached. Fine mythology brought to new life. Joseph Campbell would be very pleased.

An amazing 5 cover gallery by the brilliant painter Lucio Parrillo is absolutely jaw-dropping - I only wish there were more.
The first book is a solid 4 star read, but this one hit me hard enough to grab the fifth star - I trust you'll feel similarly.
All hail Red Sonja - long may she reign!
