Product Description

Praised by Wall Street Journal Bestselling Author Ilsa Madden-Mills as "the usual Grey crisp writing, lovable heroes that you kinda want to slap, and a heroine that doesn't back down," Resistance on Ice is another fun standalone novel in the bestselling Boys of Winter hockey romance series.

Hockey star Nolan Solvenson is nothing short of skilled perfection, both on and off the ice. Or so everyone thinks. His teammates are constantly hitting him up for advice, but really, when it comes to his own life, Nolan can't seem to make the right moves anymore.

Blame it all on Lainey Shelburne, a woman he wants but is determined to keep at arm's length. That's why, after a few sexy encounters, he unceremoniously blows her off.

When they're reunited, facing off against the fiery cocktail waitress becomes the challenge of his life. Lainey is furious with him for dumping her and wants nothing more than to kick him in the junk. But Nolan--typical man--is only interested in getting Lainey back in his bed.

That plan is shot all to hell when they reach a shaky truce and Lainey drops the bomb that all she's looking for now is a "just friends" relationship with Nolan.

Take that, Mr. Hot Right Winger!

Suddenly, the "know-it-all" athlete is skating on thin ice as he tries to hide his burgeoning feelings from the one woman who has the ability to thaw his heart. But is Lainey willing to try a relationship with him again? Can Nolan resist the urge to walk away?

Resistance on Ice is a fun standalone novel and the second installment in the bestselling Boys of Winter hockey romance series.

Sports Romance/Romantic Comedy

I liked Nolan when he was introduced in Destiny on Ice (which I loved btw) and I was excited to get his story. It was obvious that he had his life together, but as the story delved deeper into his character, I soon realized that it was all an act. He was building something good with Lainey, but as soon as feelings started to grow deeper and she started getting serious with him, he froze her out and sabotaged their relationship. Months later he realizes his mistake and tries to get her back in his bed. However, despite Lainey truly having deep feelings for him, he's been friend-zoned.

I really loved Lainey and Nolan's "friendship". It was funny to see them try to avoid their undeniable chemistry to one another to keep things strictly platonic. I knew that there had to be some past hurt to make Nolan the way he was and I was happy with the way the author wrote Lainey's character, making her as honest and open and awesome as could be. How long could Nolan resist?

Although I didn't love this book as much as I loved the first one, it was still an amazing story and it was great seeing everyone again. Benny's story is next and I know that boy has been fighting some serious demons. I can't wait to read the book that will be created for him.

I love sports romances. This story didn't Disappoint at all. This is a well written story of Nolan, star NHL player and Lainey. These start a "relationship" as just sex. Laney and Nolan have scorching chemistry. Nolan has a past that keeps him from trusting and loving. After Laney tells him they need to hang out and learn to be friends only, Nolan starts to realize he indeed has true feelings for her. Laney decides to take a job far away to get away from Nolan who just can't commit to her. During her last few nights on her job Laney gets attacked and Nolan saves her. Nolan realized his feelings before that, but after he finally tells her, will it be enough to keep her with him? A great story! ☆☆5 stars ☆☆

I admit I have not read any other books by S.R. Grey before this one but I now want to read more because I sis enjoy this book very much.

Resistance on Ice is the second book in the Boys of Winter series but it can be read as a stand alone. It is funny , romantic and very well written. I read this in one afternoon because I enjoyed this so much that I didn't want to put it down.

I'm liking this series so far, romcom sports romance. S.R. Grey does good on the hockey aspect. Lainey and Nolan have been seeing each other on the down low, no strings attached. When Lainey wants to define things with him she gets the brush off. Leading to their I want each other but the other won't be serious arrangement.

From what we know Nolan is a party animal, loves the ladies and no cares. I mean he can come off as cocky and all but he has a loner way about him too. What we find out is that he has issues and skeletons. I'm curious what made this guy such a commitment phobe and all his avoidance of questions. He needs to get past all that holding him back if he wants to move forward with Lainey. The lines blur a lot between the now friendzone and the hot lovers. I felt for Lainey but she needed to be stronger only way Nolan will shape up.

At times I wanted her to ditch him but the heart wants want it wants or maybe lust wins over sometimes. Their relationship can be good but frustrating too. I didn't quite get the feel strongly aside from the physical for Lainey and Nolan to be honest but they were fun and entertaining to read. I would've wanted her to make him work for it. But that's them. Overall a good addition to the series, still upbeat and light I still liked book one more but I enjoyed this installment. What I'm truly interested in is the new character introduced here Eliza and Benny's book. Maybe Dylan too those sound meaty.

Oh Nolan why do you want to resist the pull of Lainey?? That's what I asked myself as I started to read this book. Oh and we get the answer that's for sure. But before we do, we get lots of hot and steamy sex, a great story of two people who belong with each other but are afraid to make that leap and did I mention the steamy and dirty sex?

This is book two in this series and I had so much fun reading this one. Lainey is a firecracker that's for sure. What starts as something casual begins to have more meaning for her, but she's not sure if Nolan can see past the "casualness" of their relationship. And Nolan, he's hot, he's a hockey player, he's a dirty talker and oh my so sexy. There isn't one thing about this book I didn't love. Well except for when I wanted slap him upside the head for being such a jerk and not seeing what was right in front of him!

This book is exactly what I needed after reading some pretty dark and twitsty stories. And there's a part in the book that had me rolling on the floor...let's just say neon green is a popular color in Las Vegas!!!

Nolan and Lainey's story was hinted at in Destiny on Ice, and now they have their time in the spotlight in Resistance on Ice!

Nolan has been burned badly by love in the past when he was young and trusting, and that experience jaded him to the point where he has sworn off love in favor of only good time girls and puck bunnies now. Lainey Shelburne is enough to make him second guess that decision, and that has him panicking in a big way. They are positively combustible when they get together but their personalities mesh well too to the point where they just get each other. When Lainey tries to get Nolan to commit to being something more than just friends with benefits where they can actually be seen together in public, he completely shuts down and hurts her in the process. By the time he pulls his head out of his butt, it may be too late but he is nothing if he is not determined to win her back... even though he isn't sure he is ready for more.

Lainey is definitely a wild child and Nolan's easygoing adventurous spirit complements her perfectly, but she is not willing to open her heart to him just to have him stomp all over it again so she decides she is going to make him work for it for this time. She puts him firmly in the friend zone and sex is entirely off the table...or the wall...or the bed...well you get the idea :-) He reluctantly resigns himself and his boys to a perpetual state of being blue, but he is surprised to find he is actually enjoying this whole friends thing even as it makes him want her more.

And so begins a long road filled with back and forth and first one then the other tries to get up the courage to admit their true feelings only to have some random circumstance pop up and derail them. There are plenty of humorous moments along the way, and I particularly loved when Lainey decided she was going to derail his evening with the boys at a new strip club near the arena. The UST is off the charts until finally Nolan has to either put up or shut up. Lainey decides she can't keep living her life waiting for him to decide if he wants her or not, and he has to choose quickly before she moves on. In typical Nolan and Lainey style, they go back and forth between all or nothing until one finally wins out!

Resistance on Ice was an enjoyable read that seemed to fly by, and I loved both Nolan and Lainey! Brent and Aubrey from the first book on the series made plenty of appearances since they are completely entwined in each other's lives, and a few new people were highlighted as well including fellow teammate Benny and Lainey's new best friend Eliza. Now that pairing has trouble written all over it and I am looking forward to that story! In the meantime, go get your 1-click on for Resistance on Ice and enjoy the ride.
