Thoroughly enjoyed this book, humorous, very informative and well-structured. I followed Rick Steve's guide rigorously and never been disappointed. As a matter of fact, every time we decided to deviate from the book recommendations during our trip to Italy, we had sub-par experience, even when we thought we were thoroughly prepared. The only downside of this book is its cheaper appearance - if it would be of "Eyewitness guide" quality - it would be worthy the front shelve in the library (but would cost more of course)

HASH(0x9ff51444) out of 5 stars Excellent guide to make most of a short trip Dec 2 2010
By Amy Glessinger - Published on Amazon.com

I have both Rick Steve's paris and florence guides. Both are excellent (as are his audio tours which can be downloaded free). His free-standing guides are full of useful/practical information without overwhelming the reader with more. This guide probably contains the info normally requiring 2-3 guides. The guide contains a lot of useful, time saving tips and helps prioritise sites for visitors short on time. It has just the right balance of history/culture for the average traveler and logistical museum ticket/transportation tips, and addresses.

HASH(0x9ffc1af8) out of 5 stars excellent guide April 1 2010

Just back from a week in Italy. So glad I bought and read this book before the trip. So helpful with information about reservations needed for some sites (which the professor leading our tour was clueless about), and great tips on eating and shopping. Podcasts we downloaded off his website were great. highly recommended!

HASH(0x9ffe8564) out of 5 stars More detailed than the nationwide Italy guide Oct. 11 2010
By Amazon Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
We had a copy of Rick Steves' Italy guide but later got an opportunity to browse this Florence & Tuscany guide. There is more detail in this localized guide, so we took both for our trip. For self-guided tours through the museums, this local guide is better.

Very good guidebook. Practical information. Not too big - easy to take on a trip.
The best book I have found - and I have looked at a least 5 others.
