HASH(0x9f84e540) out of 5 stars Essential May 28 2011

This is THE guidebook for Venice. A very crowded place to visit (we went in late March). On any given day 90% of the people are tourists, so most of the streets are filled with people who have no idea where they want to be but are trying to get there anyway. The water buses were as crowded but at least everyone knew where the boat was going. We used Rick Steves' advice to book our hotel - just off St Marks, when to go to major attractions, what to look for and what could be left for another day. In a tourist town his restaurant recommendations were spot on. We ate great meals at places we wouldn't have found on our own. Except for a good street map, you will not require another guide.

HASH(0x9f84e78c) out of 5 stars Maps in Kindle Format Feb. 16 2011
By Reader - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
The information is great, like always with Rick Steves. However, the maps are not useful in the regular Kindle format due to the extremely small size. The available zoom is not sufficient. I hope this can be corrected in future versions.

HASH(0x9f84e9cc) out of 5 stars Great Guide Book for Venice June 28 2011

Rick Steves' book on Venice is an excellent guide, especially the walking tours. Venice is a must-see, and this book is a must-have.

I wish that I'd had time to peruse the book before I traveled... Rick's website has a number of FREE downloadable audio guides.

We recently spent 5 days in Venice and this guide was our go to guide every day! The suggestions on things to see and sample tours were very benefical. We won't travel with out Rick Steve's guides in the future!

i gave this book to a friend who was going on a trip with her school to study abroad. the school had scheduled tour guides which everyone found boring, she informed me that she took her tour book, and lead a bunch of them around and they had a terrific time, she said she felt like the tour guide!
