Product Description

Leaving the Marines and returning to the Tormented Souls clubhouse to live with my brother, the president, wasn't as easy as I thought it'd be. I have too many secrets, too many scars to hide from the world. I thought the years away would've dulled the crush I've had on Ellis since I was a child. They didn't.

He's got his eye on me and nothing I say will change his mind. Not even when my boyfriend shows up and he finds out the darkest, most embarrassing secret I have. He thinks it's the only one I have, little does he know, I have a bigger, scarier one that I absolutely refuse to share.

**WARNING: CONTAINS ADULT CONTENT - Also, please don't bother reading if you think being in the Marines leaves you unfeeling and cold without the need for comfort when far far away from home. Don't read this if you have problems with LOTS of sexy scenes or sex. There is vulgar language used so if that bothers you, probably best to skip this book**

4.0 out of 5 stars Going on the ride to save your own life Oct. 3 2014

I do love a good meaty story, and I do love a good biker romance but sometimes I wonder if the biker setting is an unnecessary distraction. This book dealt with so many topics that are in of themselves serious enough, they could have just been written as a good family drama in the romance genre or a military setting and not an MC.
Ryan was a Marine and that in itself made her an interesting and strong woman (you have to be to survive in that world). Her Ride was more a journey of self-discovery and revelations of secrets that should not have been kept from family members, especially since Ryan and her brother were so close. Many books deal with topics of abuse of women, serious illness, heartbreaking life changes and reuniting with past loves...and this book dealt with all of these things in depth. The sex was hot and plentiful and at times put me in sensory overload, but it confused me how such a strong woman trained as a Marine, could have allowed herself to be a victim, abused by her boyfriend sexually, emotionally and physically. She has a biker brother and Ellis, the man who would do anything for although something eventually put a stop to the abuse, it was upsetting it went on as long as it did.
A different and emotional type of biker book with less emphasis on club life and more on personal relationships and going on a ride for your life.

**audiobook review**

There are certain things about audiobooks that just drive me nuts. I'm not a fan of when a woman has to do the mans voice. But when she doesn't do it well, it throws the story off. And here is the thing that I think absolutely turned me off of this audiobook so bad I almost didn't finish it.... When the narrator sounds happy/laughing/excited when she shouldn't be. There were only two ways her voice sounded during this book- normal and happy/laughing. I know normally this would be ok but when you have a book that has a very large share of sex and steam in it, you don't want it to sound like the character is laughing. Our leading lady is full of spitfire and sass and instead of some comments coming off as smartass or sassy, they sounded like she was laughing. Instead of sounding like she was in midst of a toe curling orgasm, it sounded like she was laughing. This really threw me off of the book. I wanted to be able to hear the sass, and sexy, and steam and I totally didn't get it. I actually found myself skipping through chapters because by 75% I just wanted to know how the story was going to end.

Now as for the story, I'm a huge mc fan. There were a few things I didn't like- this woman was in the army, I can't believe she would let herself be in the relationship she was with Jeremiah. And she just continued to take the abuse. But Rachael did manage to still throw me through some major loops. Who her rapist was. What she was hiding. How bad it was. All surprising turns I didn't expect.

There were times in this book that I wasn't sure how well I liked it, but even at the lowest of my opinion, I still knew it was good. But by the end, I loved it. I only took off the quarter star because of grammatical errors. Ryan, otherwise known as Shannon Ryan, has and does go through more than any person ever should, and all of that by the time she's 25. But Ellis comes along to support her, to help her, get through everything that is to come. They've known each other since they were teens, when she had a huge crush on him. When she returns on leave right before she leaves the military, it seems their roles have reversed when HE starts hitting on HER. But she is hiding so many things, except for the fact that she has a boyfriend. She's very clear on that. I can't say anymore without spoilers. I can say it was full of steam, fists, fun and fire, all the way through the book. If you like romance books, you might want to give this one a try, though it does lean a little toward the erotic side of romance.

Her Ride (Her #1)
By: Rachael Orman
2/5 stars

Shannon Ryan aka Ryan, is coming home from deployment and getting out of the military. When she gets home to her brother, the President of the Tormented Souls MC, she is straight out the gates busting their chops like she wasn’t gone and didn’t even miss a beat. She’s got a lot of things going on in her life. But first on her list is to spend some time with her brother and MC family before carrying on with life.

Ellis aka Dirty is the VP of the MC and has been in love with Ryan for a while now. But he also had a reputation with the women when Ryan was still living at home and would follow him around like a puppy dog. Now that she’s back, she’s decided that she won’t be the one doing any pursuing. It’s up to Ellis to convince her, he has changed and wants a serious relationship.

There was just too much going on in this book. I’m not sure if some of the twists were plotlines for Patrick’s book (Her Journey) and if the rest were just thrown in there to make the book longer. Some of them came out of left field and there seemingly wasn’t a reason for them. I had really high hopes for how this book started out. I was glad that there was a bada$$ heroine. She’s a Marine that grew up around an MC. She can hold her own in a fight, though she does get beat up quite a bit in this book. But then she just turns weak when her boyfriend Jeremiah comes to town. She knows that she wants to break up with him and that their relationship is abusive and toxic. Instead of seeking the help of her brother, Dirty and the rest of the MC brothers, she instead folds into a weakling so fast, it’s like she isn’t even the same character. I know that battered woman syndrome is real, and that every woman will not act the same way. But, it’s just unbelievable that she wanted to be with her brother when she broke it off with Jeremiah and then once he comes to the house, she lets him inside & doesn’t seek help. He literally keeps her held hostage in her bedroom during his visit, beating her all the while, yet no one helps her, can they even hear her? Then she lies to Dirty about the bruising on her face to protect Jeremiah. Just, NO!

I quit reading there and read 6 other books before coming back to this one. By that time, I was just ready to get this book over with. I won’t review a book that I DNF, so I pushed it through. I got more tire of the heroine and felt bad for Dirty. If the author would have just stuck with more of the ending plotline, I think that it would have been a better book. I’m glad this was on sale when I bought it. I don’t plan on reading anymore of this series…unless it’s free or on sale.
4.0 out of 5 stars HOT SCENES July 25 2014

Rachael Orman knows how to write hot sex scenes. Ok, with that said lets me on to content and characters. At first I did not like her main character Ryan aka Shannon Ryan. I was annoyed and irritated with the character. I was literally rolling my eyes and I wanted to slap the character and place her in check. Maybe because the character was written well, a little to well because this character actually reminded me a of a person I use to know.

Once Ryan set out on her trip to D.C. I started enjoying her more. I started to see her in a new way. I believe that was kind of the point given in the book. Ryan had to leave her home to be who she is because the biker club life made her act differently, she had to put on a whole new different front living in her old house with her biker club member brother.

As I read on, I kind had an inner hunch that there was something else going on with Ryan. Maybe it’s my detective skills but to me it was easy to guess. However, I did like the direction of the story.

Great creativity for biker club name. The negative remark would be not to call the club a gang, due to the fact motorcycle clubs do not like being referred to as a gang. Maybe if a character said it that was not part of the club that would be different.

Great nicknames for club members.

And…Please remember very hot sex scenes.

I look forward to reading the next book part of this series, which will be Patrick’s story aka Wrench.

Is the book priced right? YES!

Worth the read? YES!
