Do business and pleasure mix?

In the author's debut novel comes a story about picking up the pieces, letting go of the past, and finding love along the way--even if morals are tested!

Interior designer Carrie Newman could not have envisioned a more perfect life for herself. She had a great job doing what she loved, wonderful friends, and a close relationship with her sister and brother-in-law. Add in an amazing man who she’d hoped would soon become her husband, and her life was perfect. Until one devastating decision ruins her relationship and changes the course of her life.

Determined to make a new start, Carrie leaves Texas and heads to Palm Beach to pick up the pieces of her shattered and broken life. The last thing she expects is to find herself attracted to her first client at her new job--Brad Larson, who has proven himself time and time again to be caddish.

But there’s something beneath the surface of Brad’s arrogant exterior that keeps her craving more of him--something almost sweet that Carrie can’t seem to resist.

Is Carrie ready to take another chance on romance? And will this new design of her life prove to be the right one?

What a sweet story! The Right Design is a quick, fun read with a great main character named Carrie. She breaks it off with her boyfriend of six years and even after he begs for forgiveness and a second chance, she wants nothing to do with him She even moves to a new town in a different state in order to get over him. That takes a lot of guts to turn your life upside down and make a change like that. More power to her!

'You know when you're so much in love with someone and can't imagine your life without that one person, even when you're going through tough times? There is no one I'll ever love more.'

So, Carrie meets Brad at the bar where her friend, Oliver is serving up drinks. Let me tell you, Brad did not make a good first impression on Carrie that evening. How ironic it is when she finds out that Brad is her very first client. Can she get past that horrible first encounter when what she really wants is to give in to that chemistry thing they have going on? It was fun watching their relationship struggle through the awkwardness and move on to a more deeper one.

I have to admit though, I was really hoping for a few more sparks to fly between Carrie and Oliver. That would have made for an interesting twist to the story - two hot guys after one beautiful gal. Oh well, things turn out okay in the end anyway.

I really loved the relationship between Carrie and her sister, Sara. They were so totally there for each other when they needed to be. You could tell they were really close. And Sean, Sara's husband, sounded like he was a fabulous guy too. So there were a lot of secondary characters who all made the story that much more enjoyable.

The Right Design is Isabella's first novel and I enjoyed it very much. It will be exciting to see what she has planned next.

A wonderful story about starting over.

On what should have been the happiest day of Carrie Newman’s life, it doesn’t end that way. She got a surprise gift from her boyfriend Roger early in the morning for their 6 year anniversary. Then, her boss tells her she is in the running for a big promotion. She heads home early after stopping to buy a sexy outfit for Roger. The surprise is on her when she finds him having sex with another woman.

Carrie decides her life needs a change and heads to Palm Beach where she lands a dream job and meets someone new. Brad helps Carrie forget Roger, but not without a few hiccups along the way.

This was a really good book. It was well written and had great secondary characters. At first I felt sad for Carrie and her situation. But then I found myself cheering her on and she discovers her new life and happiness.

HASH(0xa6bdbf24) out of 5 stars An easy and predictable light-hearted Chick Lit Read Nov. 11 2014
By Paula L. Phillips - Published on
Format: Paperback
Carrie nearly had it all, she was successful in a job she loved and had just been nominated for partner in the architect firm she worked at and it was her and Roger's six year anniversary and she had a little surprise for him. Though the surprise would be on her, when she gets off work early and finds him banging someone on the kitchen bench. Feeling betrayed and broken, Carrie does an impulsive action and moves away to start a new and fresh start. Lucky for her , her old boss has connections and Carrie starts at a new architect design firm. This decision will set Carrie down a path she never envisioned for herself , a new job at a different firm, living in a new place and more importantly a new love interest in Brad. What happens though, when Carrie and Brad start to get a little bit serious and Roger stops by her new office with Roses and a Ring , will Carrie jump into Roger's arms and say Yes and forgive him on the spot or will she realise in that moment that her heart now belongs to someone else ? Someone who in the past few months has made her feel even better than she did with Roger ? This novel shows readers that sometimes in the darker days in our lives, that impulsive decisions are sometimes the right ones and that they can lead us on a journey we never had thought possible or dreamed of.

HASH(0xa6c2d240) out of 5 stars The Right Design March 30 2014
By Jersey Girl Book Reviews / Jersey Girl Sizzling Book Reviews - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition
In her debut novel, The Right Design, author Isabella Louise Anderson weaves a delightful tale that follows a woman's journey of self-discovery and finding an unexpected second chance at love.

Thirty-two year old Carrie Newman is a successful interior designer at a prominent Dallas firm. She has a dream job with a chance at making partner, a loving family, and she has been in a six year relationship with her boyfriend Roger. Carrie's world is turned upside down when she comes home from work excited about intimately celebrating their sixth year anniversary, only to find that Roger has been unfaithful. Determined that she needs a change, Carrie decides to move to Palm Beach, Florida to restart her life. Carrie's journey will lead her on a new adventure of self-discovery, a fulfilling new interior designer position, and an unexpected second chance at love.

This was such a fun novel to read! I enjoyed following Carrie's journey as she restarts her life after a traumatic heartbreak. Carrie's journey is filled with real-life issues mixed with drama, humor, and romance.

Carrie is a strong independent woman whose passion for interior design guides her as she restarts her life thousands of miles away from her hometown. I couldn't help but admire Carrie's determination and independence, coupled with her passion for her dream career, she's a woman after my own heart! The author did a wonderful job of describing Carrie's passion for interior design with a richly detailed description of her design projects, it was like watching an episode of HGTV.

A chance meeting at a bar with a very drunk and sexy Brad Larson, unexpectedly turns into Carrie's first design project client, when she is hired as the interior designer for his home. A strictly business approach barely hides the undeniable attraction between Carrie and Brad. Their business/personal relationship is encouraged by Carrie's nosy matchmaker boss, England Bordeaux! It sure was fun watching Carrie and Brad dance around their attraction with witty banter until they couldn't resist mixing business with pleasure. Just when you think it will be all hearts and roses, the author throws a wrench in the mix with enough drama to keep you turning the pages.

The author adds a really nice subplot to the story involving Carrie's older sister Sara and brother-in-law Sean's struggle to have a child. I thought that this was a nice addition to the story as it showed a loving and supportive family relationship that Carrie had with her sister and brother-in-law. I think Carrie's journey interwoven with Sara's pregnancy issues tied in nicely and flowed smoothly throughout the story.

The Right Design is a wonderful debut novel that has enough romance, humor, and drama that every chick lit fan craves!

Disclaimer: I received a copy of the book from the author in exchange for my honest review.

HASH(0xa686f8a0) out of 5 stars Delightful! July 7 2014

Carrie Newman is a successful interior designer working for a reputable company in Dallas. She has been in a relationship with her boyfriend Roger for six years and is relatively happy. Her whole world shatters, however, when Carrie discovers Roger’s unfaithful. Determined to make a change, Carrie relocates to Palm Beach, Florida to start a new life.

**Spoilers, sorry**

Carrie is an independent woman whose passion for interior design guides her as she navigates a new life thousands of miles away from her native Texas. In Florida Carrie meets Brad Larson an affluent investor and quickly falls in love.

Although the chemistry between Carrie and Brad is quirky at first, the plot picks up well. Carrie has a good support system, Sara her sister, and Sean, her brother-in-law and I like the fact that they're always on hand to help Carrie in her time of need.

The Right Design is a story about self-discovery, and a second chance at love. The story line is entertaining and main characters are likable. The author does a good job at depicting real-life issues with a touch of drama and humor. The Right Design was a light and fun novel to read, I rate it three and a half stars. Good job!

HASH(0xa6660024) out of 5 stars Great Book! April 8 2014

I received this novel in exchange for my honest opinion, and I absolutely LOVED this novel! The story begins with our main character, Carrie Newman, who has everything: the perfect job as an interior designer, the perfect boyfriend, the perfect life...until their anniversary! After Carrie's shocking discovery, she moves in with her sister and brother-in-law for a brief second. After her decision to move to Palm Beach, things start to look up for Carrie. Once she moves to Palm Beach, she begins to find herself attracted to Brad Larson, but not only is he a little arrogant, but he's also Carrie's first client. I absolutely loved the characters that were in this novel...they were created so vividly, and I felt that I knew them in real life! Overall, this was a wonderful story, and I was completely honored to read this novel. I'm so proud of Isabella and what she has accomplished and will accomplish. I can't wait to read more stories by her!
