AVOID THIS PRODUCT AT ALL COSTS -- THERE ARE KNOWN BUGS WITH THE DRIVERS.
***read this thread:[...]
It's indicative of how insanely buggy this product is. It even has a "Rikomagic" rep replying to customers and telling them that the big-fixing patch they need isn't available yet. A TON of people are reporting the exact same freezing / crashing bug.
Upon first plugging it in, everything looked OK; booted up quickly, connected to my wifi network, and I opened the browser...seemed easy and impressive. About 5 minutes later, the browser froze and crashed. I rebooted the device and the exact same thing happened. 60 seconds of functionality followed by freezing and crashing.
I went online and found the thread above, in which a Rikomagic rep gives some troubleshooting tips. Nearly all of the people complaining about product bugs inform him that his tips don't help. He never really replies to them. It would be one thing if I just got a clunker...but this product suffers from serious bugs, and the drivers / repair-files they make available DO NOT WORK. The drivers they claim need to be installed are incompatible with the device.
If this review saves any person the 5 hours of headache it caused me, it will have been worth it. Read the thread above and make your own conclusion. There are many more reviews on .com rather than .ca...go there for more reports of problems.
one unfortunate flaw is that it has a rather weak wifi antenna.
in areas where my laptops, cell phones would pick up relatively strong signals. the ricomagic would not pick them up.
hence you need to be relatively close to your access points.(approx 20 feet and under as tested on a consumer grade access point)
as the version MK802IV Quad core is just being released perhaps has made some improvements to the Wifi antenna.
The HD picture is great and runs smooth Highly recommend
-Wifi/BT no wires!
-A lot slower then expected, I think the bottleneck is its built in memory being slower then it should be
-No power supply included! May solve some speed issues if it came with a beefy power supply. If you use to small of a supply it is slower
After a while it would lose data and need to have everything reset. Now wont even boot. Not useable at all now!

Been using this thing for over a year now and it is always turned on. So far so good. But it cannot display 1080p videos. Beside that it is a very impressive device. Read morePublished 20 months ago by MixMonsterMike
I got this before the launch of the Chromecast and still use it. It's great for testing Android apps on a bigger screen.Published on April 8 2014 by EgoAnt
I unpacked this and thought I could hook it up and use it. NO CHANCE! Needed support out of the box and the manufacturer will not troubleshoot! Read morePublished on July 19 2013 by Paul
