A great little game. Easy to learn, set-up, and transport. Quicker rounds than other "resource" games which makes it a great option if you are in the mood for a quick game.

HASH(0xa04332e8) out of 5 stars Great Game - Horrible Version Jan. 20 2012

Let me start by saying I love Carcassone. My wife and I play this game several times a week and it is a great two player game. The thing that I can't stand is this version of the game. The box is in a stupid shape, all of the pieces don't fit easily back into the box and all of the Meeples are made out of clear plastic. These Meeples look good and all, but if you ever get an expansion you'll end up with part of your Meeples as clear plastic and the others as painted wood. That just looks bad in my opinion and I sent this version of the game back because of it. Maybe I'm crazy, but I like square boxes that fit all of the game pieces easily and game pieces that match with all the expansions. If you're like me, go for the original version of Carcassone.

Pretty simple to explain. One of my favorite games, but the meeple shape of the box is horrible. It will separate within a month. Buy the standard edition.

HASH(0xa069cf0c) out of 5 stars A Magnificent Game Dec 30 2011
By J. Burgos - Published on Amazon.com
I got the 10th Anniversary Special Edition for Christmas and love it. We have now played 3 games and cant stop playing. I had played Carcassone at a friends boardgame night but this edition is gorgeous: it is smaller, more compact and has plenty of room for all the times plus 2-3 expansions. The player pieces are colorful crystal. I highly recommend this game for anyone who enjoys strategic games without complex, bulky rules. This game will become a staple for board game night at our home.

HASH(0xa0a8bc84) out of 5 stars Extremely Fun and Perfect for Everyone Dec 1 2011

I originally ordered Carcassonne on a whim after hearing great things about it. I really had no idea what to expect, or even if I was going to be able to figure out how to play.

I was extremely surprised at how much fun this game was, and how easy it was to learn and teach others how to play. I am not traditionally a board game player, but I fell in love with this game.

It usually is a decently short game and even with two players it can be finished in about 20-45 minutes depending on how long you think about your moves.

The real thing that affirmed this games addictiveness in my mind, was when my sister (who hates board games, and told me she would never play Carcassonne with me) after playing the first time, kept bugging me to play. She fell in love with it as well.

I think that this is a good game to consider for families, or just between friends. It's decently easy to learn (learning about farmers can be a little tricky at first) and is always a good time.

Buy this game. It is a great game, pretty simple. I wish I had games like this growing up instead of the mindlessness of games like Sorry and trouble. It is a great game where you build roads, towns, and claim fields. Pretty simple to play and understand.
